NASSAU COLISEUM - UNIONDALE, NY
MSG (HD) | MSG PLUS (HD)
QUOTES TO NOTE
Everybody’s a little bit tired from jet lag, but it was good today to get the junk out of our bodies.
As the week goes, we’ll get sharper. I can’t wait to play again.
- Brad Richards
I’m comfortable with it. I played wing a couple of times last season. Even starting this year I’ve had some shifts on wing.
Wherever I end up, I’ll be happy to play there.
- Derek Stepan
"Practice... practice... practice..." Who used to say that?
- John Tortorella

Our defense will win many cups.
For God's sake, do something.
Just score.

Please win...or at least try and go for the 0-0-82 record.
The key of tomorrow night's game is to exploit the Islanders' defense, and Henrik Lundqvist standing on his head...simple as that.

A part of me is happy to have Ranger's hockey back while at the same time I'm kind of hesitant because if they play poorly the nay-sayers will be out in full force.
A couple of questions I have:
When was that Richard's quote pulled from because if it's this late in the week and the players are still jet lagged I would be worried about how they play tomorrow.
Also, are you just assuming that Stepan will start on the wing?
Lastly, have you heard anything about Sauer's status or are you assuming again he doesn't play.
Either way I hope the Ranger's play well and we pick up our first win before a TOUGH Western Canada trip.

Rangers' website had a headline that said "No Sauer against the Islanders" or something to the tune of that, Mike.
FWIW.

What part of our offense will do the exploiting?

Stepan-Richards-Gaborik should manhandle the Islanders' defense.
The 2nd and 3rd lines should be a terror on the forecheck, as well...but we know this team. Should != will.

I guess I'm just suddenly pessimistic. It doesn't quite suit my cherub like demeanor.
I hope Stepan manhandles Montoya. Richards and Gaborik can do whatever.
I'll probably still cry in a corner because we're without Sauer.

Yea I didn't mean anything bad by saying assuming, I was just asking if you had gotten that lineup from somewhere or if it was just a generic roster that you put up when you don't know the real lineup yet. Didn't mean anything bad by it.

I'll worry about defence as soon as our offence starts actually getting shots on goal.
Tomorrow is the night!

Oh man just saw that defensive lineup. MDZ has been playing well in the Dzone and McD has been very good. They look weak on paper but i think that they will be fine

Just play hard. We all know that the Isles are jacked up for this game.
Gotta shutdown PAP.

It's cool, man. Those lines have been used in practice for at least 3 days now.
And that quote from Richie was from Monday or Tuesday I believe. They're probably all good by now. I hope.

Never thought I'd be hearing this, and yet, it's still reality. Moulson-Tavares-Parenteau is an extremely dangerous line, however, they have two major weaknesses; consistent turnovers (mostly from Parenteau) and all three of the players are below-average skaters. If we can get the 1st and 2nd line on the ice against this trio, it could potentially shut them down, while creating offense for the team at the same time.

The first must-win of the season
I'm predicting a Stepan hat trick followed by a game in which he doesn't score and Tortorella breaks up the line.
