Exactly, guys that for check well, one or two guys that can throw a game changing hit, or turn the momentum with a fight. The bottom 6 is called the bottom 6 for a reason, you go with two scoring lines the 3rd line can chip in every now and then with a goal and the 4th line should be a **** show. Someone tell pg and jm this isn't an allstar game trying to put together 4 scoring lines will never work.

Could have one of these threads for pretty much every forward. Desharnais still has more points then like $18M in contracts (Cole, Gionta, Gomez). He has also taken 0 minor penalties in comparison to their 5. DD isn't really doing much to help, but he's not really hurting either.

As far add lines, I'd try;

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Palushaj
Desharnais - Gomez - Gionta
Cole - Eller - Kostitsyn
Moen - Engqvist - Darche

Of course, Cammalleri would get his spot on the first line when he returned.

that 2nd line looks hideous. I would matchup desharnais against the opposing team's bottom 6 players and on the power play. I really think that's how you get the most out of him.

Indeed.. Ive said all along that his lack of size and speed would be a major handicap at the NHL level.. He isnt powerful enough for his size, plain simple.. Even his little passes around of the net arent working anymore.. Personally Ive never been very impressed with his "famous" vision, its good but nothing special and when you are that small you have to have something that special in your toolbox, Desharnais has none.. The way he is crushed around, he wont last long anyway..

DD was only a legend on HFboards. He's a 1 dimensional player and while he's not bad in the offensive zone, he's way too small and bad defensively to make up for it. If we were a top team he would not be in the lineup.

Has DD played any consistent minutes with 2 legitimate top 6 NHL forwards yet?

aside from the fact that he got all of 50 NHL games under his belt, he has yet to play any consistent minutes with 2 wingers that can match his offensive talent.

not that i'd want injury to hit any of our players, it would be interesting to see how DD would play given even just 5-10 games where JM had no choice but to play him in a top 6 role, with 2 quality wingers beside him.

I still think that, put in the right situation, DD has it in him to be a very productive offensive contributor.

how can we dismiss his play thus far, when our highest paid centre, who is getting almost all of his ice time with two of our top wingers, has yet to produce anything offensively?

the double standards around here are laughable.
Size: Gomez>Desharnais
Speed: Gomez>Desharnais
Shot: Gomez>Desharnais
Strength: Gomez>Desharnais
Vision: Gomez>Desharnais

All around: Gomez>>>>>>>Desharnais

Why should Desharnais take Gomez's spot?

Are you seriously saying that most people don't like Desharnais' game because he speaks french ? I feel sorry for you sir.

Looks like he'll get his chance tonight. According to Canadiens.com he'll like up with Pacioretty and Kostitsyn. Balanced lines seems to be the theme.

Moen-Gomez-Gionta
Eller-Plekanec-Cole
Pacioretty-Desharnais-Kostitsyn
Darche-Engqvist-Palushaj

That 2nd line was good during the POs for the little time it played together, which was a very small period of time.
DD gets a lot of flack for no reason. He's been battling hard, he doesn't mind going to the front of the net or in the corners, he has decent vision, decent speed, doesn't hurt his team defensively and backchecks. The only issue I'd have with him is his creativity, like trying that pass across the net when's he's down low, like last game to Cole. He always tries, and even when you have a defender taking most of the space, instead of shooting, he'll force the pass. That's my biggest issue, but it's something that experience can help with.
I'd have no problem trying that line. At the end of the day, Gionta has to bury his chances. He could have had 4-5 easy goals already.

That looks promising. He will have 3 options with 2 shooters and the wingers arent soft.

I'm sure it was just an accidental omission but you forgot Kostitsyn, Gomez, Moen, and even Engqvist that have also received their hate here.

Also if we all go on DD's back, he'll be crushed.

Exactly what I was talking about. That goal all started from a weak play by Desharnais. Does he ever look slow out there.

his last shift is a perfect example of why he has no place on an already weak small team. completely pushed off the puck in the O zone. and no it wasn't a penalty

Well during a game I always found him slow but during the skating competition he was surprisingly fast so I don't really know anymore

Usually small players that are doing well in the NHL have good speed ( St-Louis, Gionta, etc) which he doesn't have. And he seems weak compared to Gio.

I'm from the Franco side, but man, no need for the paranoiac crazyness (and the expectation to have the most QC players possible regardless) that I have to live through every X-Mas party ! I mean I agree, there's no conspiracy, we're just trying to have the best team possible, and I respect that.
