Exactly. It's a frustrating loss, and to top it off it's against the Piles.

The fact is we're a much better 5 on 5 team than the Piles and in a few months we'll forget they exist again while we're playing for a playoff spot.

Blueshirt... don't forget Lundqvist! Thought he had a great game, can't fault him on the 2 PP goals, the first one was stoppable but he made 2-3 saves that absolutely kept this team in the game.

Another line needs to stop up, might be time to flip Dubinsky with Fedotenko.

I'm trying to stay positive. The entire preseason and beginning of the season hasn't felt right. They're not playing with any kind of regularity and no MSG..something just feels off.

The entire month is like that.

I think we're all used to quick starts but this year might be the exception. Whatever, if they get it together in November, that's a great thing.

PoTG : Hank, for giving us a fighting chance (again..)

Other two "stars"
Gabby : Great effort tonight.
Stepan : Doing an excellent job on the first line.

HM : Defense in general, but especially Girardi.
The Redden : Some of the calls were truly atrocious.

Also if anybody says that the refs didn't have an impact on the game, you're ****ing blind.

"Oh but good teams find a way to overcome that!'

Maybe you're right, but the fact is we got put on a 5v3 on two really ****** calls that led to a PPG against, and then a couple of other ticky tacky calls.

We blew the Isles away 5 on 5 and took two much better teams to overtime. Step away from the ****ing ledge.

The good: Gaborik
The bad: Dubinsky's penalties
The Redden: the refs

There's more, but I'm on my phone so I won't type it all.

1st - Gaborik (and its not even close)
2nd - Richards
3rd - Lundqvist

The Good - Top line cooking on all cylinders.
The Bad - Penalties, penalties, penalties...
The Redden - Pack line. Dubinsky/Callahan were terrible, just terrible.

They were outplaying the Isles 5-on-5 until the 3rd period. Nabby gets injured and the Rangers can't capitalize because they are pinned in their own zone. They were probably exhausted from all the PKing, but I don't they played all that well in the 3rd period considering they were down a goal. Not enough urgency.

For reading comprehension purposes the point of my post was that you cannot win when with a forecheck/attack style if you can't be on the attack because of penalties and when you can't score on the PP.

If the team tried to win games playing the trap, LW lock, or the style employed by Renney its very possible to win games by scoring goals on the counter attack or waiting for teams to make mistakes.

The Rangers pinch way to often leading to odd man rushes and players being out of position, taking dumb penalties... maybe now you can follow.

I don't think he is nearly as bad as some feel he is, he was serviceable for the Stars last season, but they was overused and he ran out of steam. I have no problem with him as the 7th man if this team gets healthy, he is not flashy, but gets the job done.

???? Who is bugging out on here? Did anyone say they were gonna jump or the season was over? It was a bad loss because it was to the Isles, the Refs screwed us, and this team looked very disorganized. This team is without 2 of their top 4 d-men, Hank stood on his head so we were even in this game.

Things need to be fixed and the coaching (ie: discipline/positioning/PP/PK) needs to be addressed but it is only 3 games.

Tortorella telling it like it is...flat out said the Islanders were better than the Rangers, went off one the reporter for implying that Europe should be used as an excuse.

It was nice to see Torts smiling and laughing on the bench after the EN goal. Glad he isnt stressing out. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

This game was a perfect example of why this team needs two-way forwards on the 4th line. Dubinsky and Callahan spent the whole frigging game killing penalties, to the point where they were either gassed at even strength or just out of rhythm.

The only good thing to see was Prust getting a Prust-like goal.

Oh, and nice for Rupp to glide on the backcheck on the Moulson goal. He totally coasted. One or two strides (Heavan fordbid!) and he can check Moulson from behind.

I thought we played pretty well, except, of course, the penalties. They slowed down our pace.

No, the refs didn't screw it up. The Rangers' discipline did.

Way too early to freak out, but I smell a trade coming very soon. From what i see, this team is in desperate need of a PMD who can run the PP with Richards and a 4th-line checking center/faceoff specialist

MZA, EC and Wolski are wastes. I'd rather give their spots to guys who can play in all three zones to give Cally and Dubi a break on the PK.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not pinning the poor start on 4th liners. I just think it's counterproductive when two of your top-6 spend what seemed like 10 mins on the PK
