Was Penner benched in the last half of the game?

I'd comment, but I'm supposed to disappear now

Nice win - not always pretty, but they all count the same

Quick was awesome tonight and JJ with another game winner! That's what you get for booing Richards, Philly.

But Greene was terrible tonight. So.many.penalties.

Wooooow! Plain and simple Jon Quick stole this game for us! He's been amazing! And I don't miss Simmonds and Schenn one effin bit! Mike Richards is for reals!

There was absolutely nothing to complain on Johnson's game tonight.

Quick, Williams, and Jack were the stars tonight. They were all great.

Glad that brutal trip is over for the team. Hopefully getting back home will give the legs a jolt.

So happy that Richards got in on the winner.

Real solid game by the Willies. Willie Mitchell with a great cross-ice pass on the power play to open up the lane on the first Williams goal. Second goal by Williams was just a thing a beauty.

Doughty, Martinez out and Wiskey in.

Kind of surprised that we won.

Yes. Someone mentioned that he took an extended shift and didn't get back on the ice. I only remember one shift in the 3rd.

So I guess the lineup changes at home will be Hunter for Penner and Martinez and Voynov will be in for Doughty and Drewiske.

Quick was fantastic tonight. Great job by the 5 D men tonight too considering they played about 57 minutes down a guy.

Great start to the season.

Good game.

Wish there were about 10 fewer powerplays--neither side seemed to get in rhythm.

I hadn't seen a lot of Quick, but he was quite impressive. Saw Doughty is out a week--hope its nothing worse.

Richards was Richards. Don't put too much stock in the booing, its more a mark of respect than disrespect.

Either way, like most Flyers fans, I'll be keeping one eye on LA this year. Best of luck.
Agree and here's to hoping we beat you four more times before golf season starts.

Heroes of the night:

Quick
Johnson
Mitchell
Scuderi
Williams

Mandatory complaint:

The combined hockey IQ of Dustin Brown and Matt Greene probably wouldn't even add up to match Randy Jones'.

Great games by Quick and Johnson. I thought Scurderi had great 2nd period and even liked what I saw from Moreau tonight. Jump in the play nicely when he was out there.

Murray jungles lines too damn much! It's annoying just a fan, let alone a player.

Pro was Penner sticking up for Doughty

Con was that his skating and conditioning is still very subpar and he looks lost in ever zone.

Do the blues have a heavyweight? I would think Hunter comes in for Westgarth.

Could see this against the Blues:

Gagne-Kopitar-Williams
Richardson-Richards-Brown
Penner-Stoll-Moreau
Clifford-Lewis-Hunter

Mitchell-Voynov
Scuderi-Johnson
Martinez-Greene

Must have been the cheesesteaks before/during the game.

Have the kings been outshot in every game so far?

Richie...I mean Rick is back to his pre-injury form. The Kings are playing good hockey, you guys shouldn't be freaking out so much, Quick is playing very well and they've had probably the worst stretch of the season with all those away games right off the bat. The PP will come around.

Benching Penner was weird. He had one shift where he was coasting because he got stuck out there, but otherwise I thought he was fine. He was using his body, he stuck up for Drew, and was solid. I can only think that TM was upset about a bad change or something.

It's amazing how Jack's switch flips on when Drew goes down. He just takes over the back. If he could keep that switch on when Drew is in the lineup, we'd have two very dangerous players that can carry the play into the zone.

Glad Drew's injury isn't a head, I can live with a week or so. Welcome back, Voynov.

Did expect anything less from the Philly media?
