I'd give my 3 stars to Quick, Scuderi, Johnson.

Scuderi with 5 blocked shots and a few poke checks that broke up what could have been great scoring chances.

I think he started out slow, but picked it up in the 3rd when it mattered most.

I think winning that cup so early in his career basically ended any motivation Penner can muster. He already has a ring, and money in the bank.

Not really much left for him to get motivated about.

He's actually been the best forward at clearing the front of the net. He got a BS penalty in NJ, but he cleaned out someone tonight too.

He has the strength, it's just not his game. He's a finese winger.

a chance at a 2nd cup(or more)? more money in the offseason than he currently got? That is motivation, he just can't find his place with the new additions. He played very well with another big body like Kopitar.

I don't even like Murray. But your constant BS about him is so tiring to read. I like your posts most of the time too.

I am all for a coaching change if Dean thinks it needs to be done. But I am REALISTIC about that.

1. It's not going to happen this year, at all.
2. It will be a coach just like him.

I have accepted that.

Greene had a pretty brutal game. Brown is good when he parks himself in front of the net and creates havoc, but he just makes so many bad decisions with the puck.

Johnson has the team's two GWG so far. He's stepped up his game as well. With Doughty going down, Voynov will probably get the shot in the NHL that he wanted. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Hell of a well-played road game given all the adversity the Kings faced. Not to mention it's another "real" OT win that counts more thn shootout wins in the standings.

2-1-1 after a brutal road trip? I'll take it!

I hope Dean calls up Voinov until Drew's ready. Drewiske was fine tonight but he's not going to be able to replace Doughty's offense. It was well documented that Slava stuck around so long in camp because he would be Doughty's replacement if he hadn't signed a contract. Only makes sense to use him now.

True. Clifford may get the third line spot, but he was benched too.

No offense, dude, but that's a whole bunch of BS. That was DESPICABLE that Richards got booed. Just re-confirms everyone's impression of Philly sports fans.

Mike Richards is from this point forward an LA King. I can't imagine how happy he is right now

Quick was FANTASTIC tonight. So were Williams, JJ, and Scuderi. Kopi was kind of quiet most of the game but once again he was there at the end. Weird about Penner, especially after stepping up to defend Drew. Hope he rebounds strong.

KINGS WIN!!!!

Does Westgarth have to stop clapping after fights now? Is that taunting?

It's weird that philly fans would boo a player who didn't ask for a trade. Pretty classless act.

Greene needs to learn how to control his stick so he stops taking idiotic slashing/high stick calls.

Quick also made some great saves in the 1st 2 periods.

Also noticed Clifford seemed to be sitting the whole 3rd

Did Bob call him that? Or was that from the Philly broadcast? I missed that.

St. Louis up 1-0 on the Sharks.

Mandatory complaint:

The combined hockey IQ of Dustin Brown and Matt Greene probably wouldn't even add up to match Randy Jones'.
Mr IQ-less had Bryz screened on the GWG and prevented him from getting over to stop Johnson.

Penner was terrible tonight, other than sticking for Drew. At one point the puck was in our zone along the boards and he didn't skate for it. He reached out and when his stick didn't reach he just let the Flyers get there first.

Then he had the "pass" where he lightly passed it to a Flyer one-handed. There was no reason for it other than laziness.

Drewiske was pretty solid tonight. Greene was the weakest link, but he had some solid hits tonight.

Maybe the Kings will go with 7 defensemen against St. Louis and scratch Parse, Westgarth and Hunter.

I must have missed it but if true, that would probably justify Penner being benched.

Then he deserved the bench. You can't let players think it's ok to play like that.

Post Game Interview with Richards (talking about Rinaldo):

"Who were you talking to on the Flyers bench?"

"Ehhh that guy who didn't play very much"..."tough playing against guys like that who just run around and don't realize there's a puck on the ice"
