He's been invisible, and he is much better served logging minutes in CT than getting less than 8 with the big club.
Pre-season on Olympic sheets inflated perception of his advancement.
And you're basing this off three games, two of which the entire team sucked, and one in which he played 7 minutes with Rupp and Christensen?
Zuccarello hasn't been given a chance to show whether he's made significant strides or not.
It feels like this team does not practice any sort of cohesive gameplan in between games. Tortorella's firing won't come any time soon but it really can't come soon enough. I truly believe he's holding this team back. Staal and Sauer injuries considered. Tortorella just gets outcoached by every single coach in this league.
His only move is JUGGLING lines and yelling.
Im sure Henrik appreciated Tortorella screaming his head off for him to get to the bench with nearly two minutes left so that the islanders could score and empty net goal.
Zuccarello isn't ready (may never be) for the NHL.
Can't have a guy who can't skate a regular shift while not doing anything while he's on the ice.
Newbury will at least forecheck hard and play physical.
Next to go is Christensen and Wolski.
We need to pull a deal for a guy like Franson to help the defense.
And recall one of Mitchell, Bourque, or Hagelin.
If we wantto win games we have to start cutting fat now and stop wasting valuable roster positions.
In the words of Michel Therrien..."this team is too soff". Especially the 4th line, when, in reality, your 4th line is supposed to be the "crash and bang" energy line that wears out the opponent's defense. The only player on the current 4th line who is capable of doing that is Mike Rupp, and he hasn't gotten the ice-time necessary to do so because Christensen/Zuccarello are liabilities when they play together, and are on the ice for only 5 minutes. Very, very ineffective. The Rangers need to trade for another Fedotenko/Prust/Boyle or two, or call up Ryan Bourque. This roster would look much better:
I guess that was the last NHL-action we'll see from him. Even though the team has been awful as a whole, this is just not good enough. Probably the whole season in Hartford, no new contract offer, and KHL next.
Why not try to trade him and Wolski for just something? I don't think Zuccarello have a future with the Rangers and his contract expire after this season and I think we all can agree that Wolski definitely have no future with this club.
Stepan played well with Richards and Gaborik, so why don't keep them together? The "pack line" was pretty bad tonight but they will be fine so we should keep them together as well.
So basically we have no spot for Wolski (who also making a lot of money) and obviously not for Zuccarello either, I don't think neither of those two are suited for a bottom six role for us so the. Wouldn't we be able to get something for those two, a defender, a typical bottom six player or some picks?
He took that boarding penalty on the first shift and was demoted right after.
He played 10 minutes with Stepan and Wolski in the first game. And if he starts the game off by taking a boarding penalty, that's not exactly a good thing to do if he wants to get rewarded with more ice time..
I'm fine with this. He needs to tune up his game and earn some more ice time to really get his game going. He really isn't getting much of a chance to put all his summer training into good use at the moment, which he'll need some time to do before it can be put to good use.
So we switch Zuccerellos 5 minutes to Newburys 5 minutes.
Awesome move Slats.
mza benefits more from playing top minutes in hartford than 5 minutes on 4th line in ny...let him go down there and play cause we might need him later in the year...
it also clears a decent amount of cap space...wolski should be headed to hartford for the same reason, if they aren't going to be in the top 9 then we badly need that cap space to get some help on the blueline
