It has been a tough year for NJ sports. First McMullen of the Devils, now Mara.

My favorite line was after the Giants won the NFC championship in 2003.

"People said we were the worst team to have the best record in the conference, well then I guess we'll be the worst team to ever win the Super Bowl." Met by a thunderous ovation on the field.

While it is a sad day in the NFL, we can also celebrate his contributions to the NFL.

As a lifelong Giants fan, I have to say I most certainly admired him. He and his father before him helped shape football to be what it is today. He did great things for the Giants organization, and won 2 out of 3 superbowls there.

God bless the Mara family.
