We told another defenseman that we were going to draft him, but Couturier fell into our laps. Personally I think it was faith.

I know homer was intrested in Adam Clendining, but i doubt he would have drafted him there. Maybe we would have gone after murphy

Couts has looked absolutely fantastic so far. His vision for a pass, intelligence in making a play and patience with the puck belies his age.

Voracek has looked great too, I'm really not missing Carter.

Wait like he didn't want to sign in Philly or like we would have sent him back to juniors without even offering a contract?

Me neither, and I constantly defended him around here.

I'd even say Columbus got robbed by Homer on this one, Couturier looks like a guy who can be a better player than Carter (although completely different styles) and Voracek will be a solid top6 forward for the next decade.

On the other hand, I still think we should've gotten another player or a first round pick instead of the second from LA.

Like the Flyers wouldn't have had his rights because they had not drafted him.

Considering Carter the goalscorer has ZERO goals for Columbus and the team is 0-4....yeah Im not missing him and his streakiness especially when we are getting production from Couts and Jake already.

Granted Columbus got their center and Carter should be fine for them but still think we fleeced them but it is mainly bc Couts dropped in our lap.

As far as the Richards trade I think we got a fair return its just that we have Schenn languishing with the Phantoms....

From what I've seen of Carter in Columbus, he hasn't been as terrible as you make out. He's been like Jagr here; he hasn't scored goals yet, but he's generated a lot of their offensive chances. He's been doing just fine.

You guys really did get a blessing when Couturier fell in your lap. Should've been a top three pick.

I'm glad, too. Hamilton is off to a blazing start this season (17 pts in 9 games). Passing on Hamilton for Siemens would have been an epic fail.

Renegade Stylings posted on the Avs board that Duncan Siemens told him the Flyers were going to draft him, but when Couturier dropped they couldn't pass up on him. Renegade Stylings is the color commentator for the Saskatoon Blades (Siemens' junior team).

So glad this didn't happen, I'd probably be in jail right now....
