Great move. Voynov deserves a chance.

Woohoo!

(Well, not the IR part... boo to that, but woohoo for Voynov!)

Nothing would please me more. Sit Greene when Dewey is back! No smarts or versatility. I'm tired of that culture changer crap. He takes at least two dumb penalties every game.

Guessing Voynov will pair with Mitchell. #2 PP unit. Congrats Voynov.

It's the right move for Dean and the Kings. Voynov gets almost $30,000 per week in the NHL. He only makes $65,000 per year in the AHL. If he spends two weeks in the NHL, he will almost double his AHL salary.

Once Doughty is well I am guessing he will be sent down. In order for him to stay up the Kings would have to trade DD44 (the person everyone seems to hate right now) for picks/prospects. Very few teams are looking to move guys right now. Please keep your expectations in line with reality and you won't be hurt.

Already made a thread

Voynov was most likely told he'd be the first call up. Now they questions is will TM actually play him

I'd love to see him put 44DD out of a roster spot.

Martinez is the one he needs to dislodge to stick around.

And let the showcasing begin.

I'll just be glad if he plays, got a bad feeling that he may end up sitting. Would like to see:

JJ-Scuds
Mitchell-Voynov
A Mart-Greene

I think Voynov plays. He's a right shot and an offensive defenseman. He's already played with Mitchell all preseason.

Voynov could stick considering Martinez got scratched for Drew"awful"iske. Depends on his play.

Drewiske Didn't Play Much Against Flyers!

Even after Doughty got pasted, Drewiske didn't log a lot of ice time. If I was management I would peddle him off. He'd be a good 7th-8th d-man elsewhere.

Total ice time had more to do with all of the PPs. He doesn't play special teams. Plus, he's a #6 when he plays, he should get the least amount of ice time.

He's a good 7th-8th D-man here.

Exactly.

Voynov will need to remove A-Mart.

Was it just overlooked as to why Alec was scratched last night? Maybe I missed it but I haven't seen an explanation from TM or anyone; I thought AM had been playing great the first few games, and now we're looking to VV to take his spot when Doughty gets back. What did I miss?

Nope A-Mart is Voynov's only hope.
TM likes to pair one puck moving Dman with one stay at home.
DD44 has stuck around because he can fill either slot for a game or two.

Awesome that VV is getting the call up, now hopefully he immediately jumps over DD44 and plays Tuesday. Our powerplay definitely could use him with DD8 injured.

probably to just get DD44 a game, to keep him game ready. I imagine he will play 20 or so games this year for no other reason than that
