At the Monarchs game right now. They're playing very LA King like! Great for the first 15 then they've stunk up the joint! PP can't anything going. Monarchs down 4-2 2nd intermission

Unfortunately, Zatkoff is in net . If the Monarchs could only play Jones in every game.
I think this is what the Kings wanted Loktionov to do with possibly his last season in Manchester. Prove that you can lead a team (and league) offensively, become a leader and further prove why he shouldn't belong in the AHL. Come next season, he should be one of LA's top three centers with a 1A, 1B, and 2nd scoring line. Similar to the situation Philly has going on with Giroux, Briere and Couturier.

He's not on the Flyers roster and Couturier is in the lineup. I figure as Briere gets older, they may just slide him to RW and have Schenn or Couturier move up to that 2nd C spot, but as of now, the Flyers' top three is Giroux, Briere, Couturier.
Thats what I thought too but Springfield had scored a goal right before Lokti's, it was 5-2 already.
No that was correct. Lokti goal made it 4-3. Then Deslauriers and (i think) Kolomatis literally slipped at the same time which lead to the breakaway that made it 5-3, and deflated the team. I think both were benched for the rest of the game.
Ref did a bit of screw job to the Monarchs though. A goal that would've made it 5-4 was waved off due to the ref losing sight of the puck just before the goal was scored. Also during a late powerplay Lokti was high sticked and cut, but the ref didn't call it.
They look great at the start but just flat lined. I guess it part to the 3 in 3. Which AHL teams are use to but all 3 were road games. (Providence, Portland, Springfield)
Lokti looked fantastic though, best player on the ice.
No, not if he plays like he did yesterday....same story as it was for the first half of last season. Granted the entire team didn't play well yesterday in Springfield and maybe traveling with the Kings was part of Zatkoff's problem. We are really hoping Zats can get his head on straight.

The thing is if he ever figures out his consistency issues he has the pontential to be a great backup goalie that can sit for long periods and play well... But he has to put it all together if he's to find success. He seems like the type of goalie that would benefit greatly by seeing a sports psychologist and getting a routine of being able to focus and mentally prepare for games. If he could get the mental aspect down all the tools are there already for him to push Jones as the starter and even push DL to possibly move one Quick or Bernier sooner rather than when their contracts end...

Its funny that you mention focus.....many people around us are always hollering at him to do exactly that, it seems like he's picking daiseys out there.
Bah... It just seems to be feast or famon with the Narch's this year. Zatkoff gives up 5 goals in a losing effort and Jones comes back with giving up 4... Be interesting to see which guy finally rises to the top and takes the reins. Jones has to have the inside track after the first few games but Manchester really needs some consistent goaltending if they are going to suceed this year.
And it was ugly! Horrible passing, more to the other team than their own. 15 shots the first 2 periods 18 in the third. Outshot them 18 to 1 in the third but former Monarch Danny Taylor played very well as he always does against us! I don't know what happened to the team we had for the first 4 games, definitely not the team playing the last 5 games. Hard to believe losing Voynov could make that big a difference for that many games!!
