Moj is a sports lifer. He played UBC ball, has years of coaching, and lots of contacts. He's worked at this gig tirelessly -- I seem to recall he had this own sports tabloid for a while. The strike against him is his voice, which is blown out from yelling on the sidelines. He would be an ideal producer. But he's earned his ticket in this town, if anyone has.

Based upon the content and writing style the target market would seem to be pre-pubescent children.

More like the coveted 18-35 male. Pretty much the same content and writing style is required for both

Is there a reason for your bitterness towards the former Kurtenbloggers? I've always thought Brough provided the most level-headed, reasoned analysis of Canucks-related issues. Pretty choked that KB Radio is dead.

They made fun of Wetcoaster's nickname on their blog once, he hasn't been able to let it go since.

And the answer to the question is.... NBC Pro Hockey Talk. And yes they will be making videos harassing JR Superstar.

agreed, this is a pretty disappointing development if there is no weekly radioshow/podcast anymore

Saw a thread mentioning the Kurtenblog, clicked on it knowing that Wetcoaster would be in here elder-sperging about them as always. Thread delivered. He just can't resist, it's kind of funny.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing them in their new endeavor. I read their blog regularly and enjoyed their radio show. They're funny and to be quite honest also two of the more intelligent Vancouver sports-writers, which is ironic considering they had a humour-blog. I always thought their opinions were the most well-balanced of them all. They simply outgrew their previous setup and now running the hockey blog for NBC Sports is a huge deal. Good for them.

It looks like the entire Kurtenblog has been taken down so I can't find the post. It wasn't anything spectacular, all they said that it wasn't very creative, it's funny how it really set Wetcoaster off. It was years and years ago.

Edit - Wait, here it is:

A special KBFU goes to the hilariously named Wetcoaster (because, you see, it rains a lot here). Scroll down on page 3 for his rather hurtful critique, which includes taking us to task for predicting last year’s Canucks would win 43 games (they won 49) and finish eighth in the conference (they finished with the sixth-most points). We really do suck, don’t we.
This is from January 2008

Thanks for finding it. Interesting tidbit.

Almost four years ago... no wonder he hasn't been able to let it go.

And since 2008, I saw little in the way of improvement.

Lack of knowledge, god awful writing, etc. Just puerile insults in response to well-founded criticism. Much like we regularly see on CDC and occasionally on HF (until the Mods shut it down).

They're going to suck on NBC. Always happens when the locals try go too mainstream. Especially in the US where hockey isn't popular
