Ugh. Looks like we're not in the clear with Sauer's injury proneness.

It would make me reconsider the pairings. I'm all for throwing young players into the fire, but if Capuano sees DZ and Erixon come over the boards together, he's going to need a drool cup as he decides which line to match up against them.

We need Staal and Sauer, simple as that.

With Hank, it's possible we can still win, but I hope he doesn't hurt his neck from standing on his head for 60 minute.

How long until we hear this hit was a result of a hit from his brother, Kurt, at a pond hockey game back in 2001?

I finally get to watch a Rangers' game and this is the crew they start against the Islanders: NYR D-pairs at practice: McDonagh-Girardi, Del Zotto-Erixon, Woywitka-Eminger?

Wish it was not against a rival at least.

Nope didnt know it was even a slur. Pretty pathetic considering I am asian, though I usually hear the more common terms.

no worries, you arent the first person on this board to use that term for him...it wouldnt surprise me if most of the ppl who use the term didnt know how derogatory it really is.

Hopefully this means Sauer will be good to go tomorrow. Kesler said he'll be playing tomorrow, so having Sauer back will be huge if he is in fact going to play. I swear, if Dale Weise ****ing scores on us...

Why the hell does every star injured player make their return us? Seriously, it's like clockwork. And they ALWAYS play well. This team.

Anyway, great news regarding Sauer. He changes the dynamic of this defensive core entirely when he's in the lineup. He slows the pace, if you will. He's such a cerebral defenseman, unbelievably technical.

Michael Sauer not ready to play. He's working his way back, step by step. Practiced today and skated some Sunday, but still limited

The Rangers flew out to Van on Sunday morning and they skated in Van after landing there. It wasn't reported until a few minutes Sauer has now skated for 2 straight days.

I guess MDZ will sit. Woywitka-Eminger had a pretty solid game Sat. I'd keep them together. Are they paired at practice?

MDZ probably was our 3rd best defenseman last game.

He was involved in the offense and was very stellar defensively.

Eminger was not good but not bad, he was ok in my book. Woywitka looked slow and still not very sure of him self in this new system.

MDZ, and I have been hard on him, has been incredibly stellar to start the year. There is no way he sits next game.

Why would he sit? Bell wasn't brought up to play, but as insurance (as far as I know).

Wouldn't surprise me to see MDZ sit. He wasn't bad but he wasn't good against the Isles.

I still think Woywitka sits over anyone else though.

Are you kidding me? Woywitka and Eminger were so much worse than MDZ.

I disagree very much so in regards to MDZ. I was very hard on him last year, but he has been an absolute revelation for the team thus far. Take away the preconceived notions of his "bad" defensive game, and no one is even contemplating the idea of MDZ being a healthy scratch, IMO. He's been the team's 3rd best defenseman, after Ryan and Dan.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree here. MDZ was very confident on the offense against the Islanders. I understood when to jump up into the play, and when to stay back. He also had a couple of quality shots and another one or two quality chances. I have been very happy with MDZ so far this year. I don't worry defensively as much when he's out on the ice because he's been that solid for us already.

I think that the telling sign to the d-men's status on the team is where they're playing. MDZ and Erixon both started on the 3rd pair and were moved up to the second pair. Eminger easily could have taken one of those spots, so that means Torts is happy with those two. He is also feeding them quite a bit of ice time instead of spreading out the remaining ice time amongst the final two pairs.

Pretty much. God forbid someone else go down, Hartford isn't exactly around the corner.

You guess wrong! If he's healthy, he plays. Right now he's only behind girardi and Mcd on the depth chart. You Mdz Haters are in a friggin' fantasy world.
