And it's not "already". We've been watching him juggle lines and dump and chase for three and half years; three and a half years in which we failed to advance past the first round.

Meh.

It's not panic time yet.

With that stupid Europe trip we're basically playing an 80 game schedule.

We're missing our #1 d-man and our #3 d-man.

Take that away from any team and they'll struggle. Not to mention our D was pretty iffy even with Staal and Sauer.

It's 3 games in. Our first game back in the states. Without 2 of our top 4 d-men. They deserve the benefit of the doubt here.

2. I still think people are not fully aware of what losing Staal/Sauer does to this team. Overall the defense has stepped up. Up to where we were with Staal/Sauer? No. But definitely up. McDonagh is getting better and better with each game.

3. For all that people blasted him, Woywitka was not THAT bad tonight. He looked like a serviceable 6/7 guy.

4. Anisimov looks much more engaged this year and is poised to break out.

5. Del Zotto is ripping the puck. His accuracy needs work but if teams have to at least play the shot on him his passing gets that much more deadly.

6. We have the best tender in the league, bar none.

Queue someone ripping this post to shreds...
Cool!

Is this season a sprint?

Fire him so we can fire the next guy after he has a three game skid.

This "good" team probably has the worst D in the league right now. Once again, people's expectations are too high at the moment, and it's far too early to be complaining about this team's record 3 games in.

And I mentioned this in another thread, but the dump and chase is utilized because our transition game is atrocious. It wasn't that good to begin with when Staal was healthy, and now it's even worse.

The D sucks offensively. We knew that. I don't think they've been bad defensively at all.

I sure hope not. Because we're near the bottom when it comes to goals for.

People forget that. Not even a single division title for 48 consecutive years. The joke of the Original Six. It's no surprise current ownership focuses so much on 1994.

I think Rangers fans are going to have to show some patience the first three or so weeks.

Theres a good chance that the Rangers are going to be in the basement for a while considering all the travel and other teams playing better (and more games). Theyll come around. I have confidence in this team. As soon as they get a nice regulation win under their belt, the Rangers style that made them so successful last year will start to be more prevalent each passing game.

I find it kinda of shortsighted to actually expect the world out of this team from day one considering all the crap they've had to do and the injuries on defense.

We're essentially 0-3 but it's the NHL not NFL so we're okay.

Really though, most of our best guys are performing so this will not last. Did you guys really think we wouldn't go on a three game slide this season? It's just magnified because it's the beginning of the year.

Our team was this good last year and the year before? We have a much better team now it's not comparable the expectations are completely different.

I didn't even think last years team was good enough to make the PO's when the season started and then we had the injury nightmares and gabs issues...yet we still overachieved and made the PO's so that's how I see it. You seem to be blindly ignoring all that

As far as Torts goes since we overachieved last year that's a success in my eyes. I feel he deserves one bad year this year he's earned it in my bank of trust. But if we have another bad year next year he's gone! I am worried that Torts has kept me under control and kept me from destroying my own team. With him gone I may give out so many bad ciontracts it'd be akin to launching the team into an active volcano. Anyway since I make the hiring and firing decisions for this team this is all you need to know. Also I like cigars and overpaying for garbage

agreed. we played some sloppy games out of the gate in past season starts and got the win anyway. This year no, but we were close. And like you said, considering all the travel, etc. so far i'm not that concerned. Sat. unfortunately was a typical NYR/NYI slopfest.

Get a win and everyone relaxes and normalizes. NOt going to be that easy against Van. tonight though...

Positive: Next year they're going to have someone named "Nail" on their team, how cool is that?
