god i dont even wanna think about those first 2 miserable periods. story of the game is obviously henrik in probably one of his greatest reg season wins and shutouts. the man was just on point tonight. last years 1-0 win doesnt even compare to this one.

That will go down as one of the best goaltending performances of the season. Without Hank's first two periods we don't win this game, period.

He kept us in it as usual, can't wait to see a giant smile on his face in the post-game.

Torts better not look past this game though, there are still A LOT of things this team needs to work on. Gotta get disciplined for a start. 8 power plays for the opponent is just downright terrible.

Feels good to win

Poll is close, if McDonagh wins this, I'm going to cry (although he was clearly the second best).

Hank, Girardi and McD.

McD's skate in was ridiculous. I didn't even know how to react. Gabby keeps scoring, I think Richards got a souvenir assist so he looks good too, and MDZ also had a very good game.

There's just no words for Hank anymore. If he doesn't win a cup it's going to be a ****ing travesty, simple as that.

The Redden: All the Ranger fans who gave up on the season after three games and gave the team no shot to win this game. Here's your crow:

Um...but we were still pretty awful.

Ok here we go:

The good:

LUND-EFFIN-QVIST
Mcdonagh
Richards made some great passes tonight
D was great for the players we have playing

The Bad:

Penalties, like srsbsns-ish
Anisimov, where have you gone my boy??? When you do get the puck you kind of just look at it and make a move that turns into zilch
1st/2nd period was just god awful, dump and chase, dump and chase.

Does anyone realize our goals came when we carried the puck into the zone, and NOT with dump and chase BS?!?!

Great outcome! We beat the defending WC champs.

Holy ****, was Hank a monster tonight.

Gotta be one of his most impressive games - if not the most dominant, in my opinion. So many gigantic saves from shots in prime real estate. Definitely give credit to the entire defense as a team. They did their job, too.

McDonagh and Girardi look like they've been a #1-2 combo for years. McD just gets better and better.

The team's chemistry is here. Boy, did the team just flow in the 3rd. The first two periods were okay. They didn't do much offense, but they didn't look bad at all. Of course Hank made them look better up front, but you can't take anything away from them - except the few dumb, soft, unnecessary penalties. Their defense was sound.

One more thing, season's still over... Four games in and we only have one win...

Lundvist

McDonagh

Gaborik

Very good 3rd period. Still have a lot to work on but I think we may have the makings of some offensive abilities.

Well I meant amazing to watch. Killing penalties may not be enjoyable, but it's definitely exciting to see a game like this somehow get won by the Rangers, who after the second period, the odds for the Canucks to win must have been around 30-1.

Granted, Lundqvist won this game for them. But from a strategic point of view, the Rangers played a perfect road game against a team's home opener. Joe wasn't kidding when he talked about rope-a-dope, but honestly... that's a pretty good strategy.

Dubinsky now has 37 PIMs in his first 4 games.

Discipline. Isn't this the guy half the board wanted to be the Ranger's captain?
