The Ryan McDonagh Mancrush thread

Come on...You all expected this thread.

If he can continue to improve offensively, he could be one heck of a defenseman.

He's like a smaller Staal.

Great news.

He was nearly as good as Lundqvist tonight. Completely dominated every shift.

We all knew his defensive and skating abilities are very good, but if he can develop a two way game I'd be thrilled with the return for that waste of space Gomez.

That is a significantly better puck handler and offensive player.

I love this kid, going to be unreal. Been saying it since his first week in the NHL.

If I didn't get a Stepan jersey, I would have definitely got a McDonagh jersey next. I like getting jerseys of players who many people don't have, but I can't on my next one. I have to get a Lundqvist jersey already.

In the 2007 draft, McDonagh was a player I hoped the Rangers would target at 17. But, Montreal decided to take him at 12. (Of course, that was the draft that the Rangers took Cherepanov.) Imagine how happy I was when Bob Gainey was not only willing to take the slug known as Scott Gomez off the Rangers' hands, but, throw in McDonagh for good measure.

That was NOT McDonagh. It's fraud. It wasn't him. It was Brian Leetch. I know it because those are the kinds of shots and moves that Leetch would normally make when he was in his prime. I'm glad that Leetch is as good at 43 today as he was 15 years ago as a 28 year old. But Leetch needs to wear his own jersey. Not cool coming back like that and taking McDonagh's spot in the lineup.

Put him as a forward or put him on the point with Richie on the power play.

I remember seeing how solid of a skater he was last season, but the game tonight gave me a belief that he can play wing if we needed him to. haha. The kid has some hands. Solid fake and dish to Gabby for the fourth goal.

The dude just flows. So collective. Doesn't rush on anything. All he does seems to work and is effective. Flawless.

You are not thrilled now? You are a tough man to please. Let me guess, if you hook up with the runner-up to Miss America, you are deeply disappointed that your woman isn't pretty enough?

Think we found our #1 LW?

The thing about McDonagh is that he combines his thought process for the game and his unreal skating ability...it makes for a ridiculous combination.

Way to really nit pick.

I assumed it was safe to say it like that because people understood that I was already greatly pleased with him as a player now. My perfect scenario would be for him to develop into a 30-40 point two way defensemen and that would be amazing.

If he doesn't then I'm more than happy with him as a player now.

I guess I should never assume people know what I mean, even when I think it's common knowledge.

McDonaugh is a stud. He is a great skater, great competitor, and just a solid defencemen. Once Staal comes back it will be a pleasure to watch.

If he gets comfortable and uses his skating like he did on his assist tonight, he's going to be a premiere defenseman in this league.

When marc and Sauer come back, put themtogether and keep Girardi and McD? Two balanced d pairs? Thoughts?

McDonagh has been excellent.

I don't think I'd start with the Staal comparisons yet, though. Not until he's really proven that he can do this for a full year.

2 balanced pairs and having MDZ and Erixon on the 3rd pair is incredible. Hopefully we can spread out the ice time over 3 pairs instead of being top heavy on the top 2 pairs.

With that said we really need to look into dealing some of our defensive depth because we are pretty much set for a LONG time with these guys we have now.
