1 - Call-up the fabulous offensive talent of Mueller and send down Smith. Sending down O'Reilly would expose him to waivers and we cannot lose him for nothing.
2 - Call-up Ellis and send down Ekholm. Now you'll see real defense
3 - Wait for other GMs to call suggesting a trade but don't actually make the trade in the event of losing an asset.
1. Send down Ekholm. Bring up Ellis. Maybe that will help?
2. Trade/waive Cal O'Reilly. Doing nothing right now but converting oxygen to carbon dioxide. Force trotz to play bergfors
3. Actively work the phones and find help at the forward position and see if I can work a deal to bring in a talented forward. Find the right deal, even if it takes some time.
1) Tell Ekholm that he has to make a choice, report to Milwaukee and play his way back or get on a plane back to Sweden for the season. Practicing with the team, but not playing is not doing anything for his development and we can't afford to protect him right now.
2) Call up Chris Mueller, bench Cal O'Reilly. Mueller is Milwaukee's No. 1 center this season, had a good preseason, and is off to a hot start with the Admirals this season.
3) If Tyler Sloan is not available right now, work to pick up a big, veteran defenseman for the third pairing. Ryan Ellis is NOT the answer right now, we need a defenseman with size.

Seth do you think that our forwards in Milw have more talent than O'Reilly? The notalbe ones ....if the answer is yes then he needs to be traded then.

I forgot to add the sarcasm smily. In no way is that what I consider the fix but that is likely what Poile will do
Btw if Tyler Sloan and Chris Mueller are the Preds answers then we are in worse shape then I thought. Teams who go to the Western conference semis the previous year don't call up crap like that

Look at some of the guys Vancouver recalled last season. They went to the Cup finals...
You don't throw rookies into these situations. Sloan has experience and Mueller is an overachiever that got his feet wet last season. If there isn't a trade to be had right now, then you try out what you have on the farm...
If Erat is out long-term, I'd really like to see Jusso Puustinen recalled. Has 2 goals and a shootout winner in his first 3 games. He's a goal scoring winger with fairly good size and good skill. A veteran of the SM-liiga, he's made a quick adjustment to the AHL thus far. Was playing on point of PP this past weekend with Ellis...
2. Go out and find a 2nd pairing defenseman, so we can drop the underachieving Klein and Blum down a pair (they're horrible so far), and move some of those completely unready rookies to Milwaukee.
3. I like the idea of helmet stickers for shooting the puck. Or a cash bonus to whoever gets 5 shots in a game. Or something.

Realistically. I find a veteran defenseman, hopefully a guy that's big and can play the body and good stay at home d, (think Skrastins) and a veteran 2 way center (can't afford or find a true number 1 center) with some playmaking ability.
Look into a trade for Igilna condensing the number of UFA forwards.
Trade for a bruising defensman who can play big, get PIMs, cave in a skull once in a while. A guy who takes away the need for McG on the forward corps.
Sadly, what Nashville needs Both wore #3 and died over the summer

Nope, we need a true game changer in the forward corps
