The Leafs-Flames have been in talks recently, Rene Bourque a target of Burke.

To those accusing me of stealing from others. I reported Rene Bourque interest 30 mins before TSN, and Morrow rumor a month before Sportsnet.
this guy has credibility.

also said that Brassard would of been traded this week, but since carter got injured, it fell through.

I reread what you wrote, and in fact I did read it wrong. My apologies. Yes it's an excuse, but I am trying to quit smoking cold turkey today. It has been rough. Don't know if you ever tried this, but you get very light headed, and to a lesser degree slight vision blur and disorientation. It has been rough. So ya, my apologies. You do in fact make a valid point. If futures are the objective, it is best to wait until the deadline.

Oh, and I am beyond arrogant for the record.

I know that some folks tend to point to what a player did X number of years ago and say "He's a 60+ point guy", but the sad truth is this, Wolski has tools, but no tool box. He has no head for the game and it's become an issue for the Avalanche, Coyotes and while not yet for the Rangers, I'd rather cut ties with him and his bloated contract for a guy that has actually scored goals recently as in the last 2+ years (not however many years ago) and earned the money he's making.

To me, Wolski has minimal to no value and the real deal here is Bourque for the Rangers 1st with Wolski (UFA to be cause we are not qualifying him at 4 million per) being a throw in.
Agree as to bold.
While Bourque is obviously a very good short term gain, I'd prefer holding on to the first.
Would consider other assets.

It's overpayment, but i really like that Bourque kid. I dunno Bourques trade value, though. I figured it would be high since he's signed cheap for many years, and will be a 30 goal guy here consistently with either Crosby (most likely), or Geno (less likely).

If Bourque is moving, it's going to be for an upgrade at a certain position so expect roster players coming back. If Bourque does happen to be moved for picks/prospects, it's going to be closer to the trade deadline or at the draft.
Wanting to be competitive and actually being competitive are two different things. Ask Edmonton, they're learning the difference right now in a very positive way.

Flames will accept nothing less of Pavelski for Bourque straight up. Borque is a back to back 27 goal man playing 3rd line mins.

I wouldn't say that... The Flames may need help, but they're in no position to be demanding other teams' core players. Pavelski would be awesome in Calgary, but I think you have it the wrong way around. Calgary would have to add to Bourque to make that trade work for SJ.

Bourque + Stajan for Pavelski. Helps both clubs.

Bourque could look good on the leafs 2nd line if MacA was a one hit wonder.

2011/2012 Rene Bourque 17:45 mins/game. 3rd on the teams forwards. (PP 3:00 mins/game)

2010/2011 Rene Bourque 17:45 mins/game. 4th on the teams forwards. (PP 3:00 mins/game)

2009/2010 Rene Bourque 18:19 mins/game. 4th on the teams forwards. (PP 2:24 mins/game)

actually...

He's playing 1st/2nd line minutes, nearly a 3rd of the game. And he has been for the past 2 years.

Last year, he had the 64th most minutes out of ANY forward on ANY team, and his 240 PP mins were good for 54th in the league.

Last year he got 1st line minutes.

I like Bourque, but we would need to add to get Pavelski. He's been a playoff stud, so if I were SJ I'm not moving him. Bourque would be a good fit in SJ though. Something like Torrey Mitchell and a 1st would be OK.

people get confused because he plays on the 3rd line right now, but he was on the 2nd line for most of the last 2 seasons and then ignore his PP time.

lol. Stop posting. I love my Flames, but Bourque isn't even close to the player that Pavelski is. Alot of people love throwing out Bourque playing third line, which he does. But lines 2 and 3 are more of a 2A/2B. They generally play the same amount of minutes with Iggy/Tanguay getting 20-25ish.

Philly would still need to shed approximately $2.75 million in cap space to make this work

From what I've seen of Crosby's game, I think Bourque would fit very well with him. Similar to the way Kunitz does, but with a significantly better offensive player.

Our 2nd and 3rd line are pretty much the same so saying hes 3rd line doesnt really mean anything.

Dreger makes an update on this topic.

Jay Feaster is still working the phones. Nothing imminent. As per his modified NTC, Bourque gave a list of 10 teams he won't go to in July.

Further to what was said last week, Feaster isn't shopping Bourque, but willing to consider interest or offers on a number of players.

I wonder when underachieving teams will want to make a move to shake things up, or when teams off to good starts might make a move to try an solidify their starts.

The two teams I keep looking at that make me a bit curious are New Jersey and Boston, especially Boston. They appear to have the cap space, they have drafted high enough and well enough in recent years they could afford to move their 1st rounder ad adding Bourque without pulling a key player from their roster could be a decent boost, especially with the injury to Krejci
