We played solid throughout the 60 minutes, and that’s the thing that we had lacked in the last couple games, not to play 60 minutes. But tonight I thought it was a real good team effort. The first five games, it’s been really good. The long road trip, sometimes it gets too long and you can have trouble focusing a little bit, but I thought the guys battled through that long trip really well. I thought it showed tonight, that everybody was ready to get the home opener out of the way. The fans were excited and we delivered tonight. My saucer pass on Gagne’s goal, it’s one of those things that happens real quick. You just react out there on the ice. Fortunately for us, it clicked."

We built off that for the rest of the game. The shutout is just kind of icing on the cake there. At the end of the day, it’s two points. That’s all it is. We’ve got to just build off what we did here today and just continue. It’s a long season. We’re going to take it one game at a time and keep going here."

That’s how we’ve got to play. We’ve got to get our forecheck going, and get on teams’ defense, and that’s what we did tonight. You’ve just got to keep working, keep going. If you work hard enough, the bounces should go your way. Tonight, I was lucky enough to get one and just contribute any way you can, any way possible to help the team get a win and keep this thing going. In the end I did for Kurrilino though, he’s my BUD."

It’s always fun to go to a hockey game and see some goals. Overall we did play a good game as a team. The team has potential, Yes, but at the same time it’s still early. It’s only five games into the season. We like what we see, but we still have a lot of work to get where we want. It’s a tough league now to make the playoffs. We all know that, especially in the West. Right now we like the way we play but at the same time we still have a place for improvement. It’s a good start and we’ll take that, that’s for sure. This game was fun. It’s always fun when you’re able to chip in and score some goals. I had a couple of chances to get the hat trick at the end. I had two nice passes from my linemates, one by Willy [Justin Williams] and one by Kopi [Anze Kopitar]. I was not able to finish it but overall I was pretty happy with the first game at home."

Certainly last year we weren’t able to win a game against them. So everybody had awareness to it, and it was a solid team effort with all four lines, the defensemen and Quicker. I thought they really paid attention to the detail. We did a great job of moving the puck, getting it up and getting it out of our end as quick as possible to get some pressure. It’s also good to spread the scoring around. It’s good to see some guys score. There was a little bit better shot mentality in the game, although the number wasn’t that high, at the end of the day, for shots on goal. But the opportunities that were there, we were not looking for other options. We were starting to get pucks to the net and that, to me, is a real positive. We’re starting to get some chemistry. We’ve got a lot of new players in our lineup. There’s a lot of different line combinations. Players have not played together. There’s personal, individual confidence. There’s line confidence. There’s team confidence, and it takes time to get all that sorted out. It’s only one game, where we play like this. We’ve got four of the next five that are division games in front of us right now, so we’ve just got to build off that. There’s still a lot of work for us to do in the overall scheme of things. Tonight there was good things happening because of hard work, because of doing things right, and that’s the most important thing, that when you do things right, that you can get some results. That’s something that we have to understand and, emotionally, bring into the next game."

LET'S GO KINGS !!!

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE -

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Doan going for goal 300 + playing against the Kings = guaranteed.

??? are you guys talking about this PIC ?

It IS Jack Johnson ... not Kopi ... nothing Photoshopped ? ... and it's preseason NHL game at Staples Center on September 22, 2008. The Kings defeated the Coyotes 6-4.

This is Kopi in that SAME game ...

HELL ... if ANY Pic looked PHOTOSHOPPED I would have figured you'd have said THIS ONE, as Dustin Brown looks like he's doing something that defies Physics !

Didn't they have Belanger on the first line last season and still handed the Kings their ***** on several occasions? I'd never discount the roster of a Tippett coached team. That being said, I expect the Kings to win this one.

I take under.

Not going to use the "must win" statement here, but this is a great game for the Kings to show who is the best in the division. The Yotes seem to get up to play us and it's time for us to make a nice statement here.

Plus, let's make Quick the third goalie in team history to earn 100 wins. Hopefully he can do it with a shutout to tie Jamie Storr for second place all-time in shutouts too.

Jamie Storr? Really? Wow.

Anyways, if we play like we did against the Blues we win. I say 4-1 tonight, but if the Yotes goaltending is brutal, and it could be with Smith/LOLbarbera in net, we could win 7-2 or something.

That said, we could stink up the joint and lose, but I don't think that will happen tonight.

Also, I love the Mitchell-Voynov pairing. Glad to see TM didn't slide Martinez up the line and put Voynov on the third pair, instead he showed a little creativity. Should be good for Voynov.

It's funny how game times can't get here fast enough when the team is this good. Truly a pleasure to watch these guys play.

Today's my birthday and my dog is sick, so will be staying home with him instead of the fun plans I had for the morning/afternoon. The Kings BETTER win tonight!

He is actually playing really well. Got a goal the other night and has some helpers. This trade made us way better.
