I'll be going to a Flyers/Capitals game tonight at 7pm with guys from my roller hockey team and then come home to watch the Rangers take down the Flames.
Team should be able to build off the win in Vancouver, big game tonight, too. Should be a win...but "shoulds" are never a guarantee, especially with this team.
If they want to win, they have to be very aggressive tonight, because Calgary can be a somewhat passive team, given the coach they have and the type of play he stresses. Get a good start, open up a pressurized forecheck, and counterattack on neutral zone turnovers. If they can shutdown the Tanguay-Iginla pairing, they should be in the clear.
Is there no young, hungry, Whale that could better fill the role of a 4th line checker/grinder? c'mon .
Seriously this.
EC has no heart and no balls. We need someone on that 4th line that is going to forecheck and cycle, and generally make life a pain for the defense. Call up Mitchell or something, the guy looked hungry in camp and outplayed EC for that roster spot. Plus, he's somewhat of a vet, so its not like you'd be calling up a youngster and giving them almost no icetime. EC should be a depth guy for injury to the Top-9, not being useless on the 4th line. Torts already uses our 4th line very sparingly. When they're out there they should at least be an effective energy line. Having EC there completely controverts that philosophy.
Let's hope Kipper has an off game and we get some scoring from the second line. Can't afford to be on the negative side of the penalties taken column game in, game out..
Gotta get the W here. These early games are just as important as the ones later in the year, 2 points is 2 points and they need it badly. So here is to a Dubya
Call me crazy but I'd rather see a young hungry player get at least 15-18 mins in ahl a game than 3 mins in NHL.
Especially 5 games deep
there are a ton of guys in Hartford that wont ever play 15 mins a night but can bang the body, raise hell, cycle the puck, AND play with hunger and enthusiasm. That's who i want on the 4th line.
I don't see why Richards would be booed, but Erixon should and hopefully will be burned mercilessly.
All that aside, I always look forward to games against Eastern Conference O6 teams, should be a good game. Hopefully the Flames don't see the same Lundqvist that the Canucks did.

It really depends who your talking about. For instance I much rather keep Hagelin down, but if we're talking Mitchell In for Christensen that is fine by me.

Eh, I could see Richards being booed. Montreal still boos Danny Briere every time he touches the puck.
As for Erixon, he, in all honesty, deserves to booing he gets...glad to have him here, but the move he made was rather immature, IMO. Hopefully, he can learn from that and the upcoming game as an experience and use it to better himself for the future.

I look forward to Western Canadian games, myself, never get to see these teams. Well, aside from the 9:30-10:30 start time when I have to get up for school in the morning. Heh.

Would be nice for Biron to get a start, although, I could see Tortorella riding Henrik's current "hotstreak".
