Never seen a tragedy like that just stop an event in it's tracks like that though. Love what the drivers did.

Watching the Orange Line on CSN, Lisa Hillary is interviewing Bryz- this guy is too much to handle sometimes....

She asked him why he didnt necessary emulate one goalie growing up- he leaned in and whispered to her "you wanna know a secret, i didnt have a tv"

what a personality....

After much wheeling and dealing and accepted offers and failed inspections, I have finally have a closing date set for my first home. The house needs a ton of work but the price was too good to pass up.

Haha, nope. The house looks fine. Only issues are termite damage (which is common in the area where the house is), heating system is broken (we were going to replace anyway because it is oil heat), and the septic tank is busted. The septic tank is the only major thing we need to do that we weren't planning on doing but they lowered the price considerably and a close friend does septic replacements for a living and gave us a good deal. It also needs to be painted and smells like death because the guy who lived there smoked about 900 packs of cigarrettes a day. Has a sick huge fenced in back yard, two car garage (will be turned into manroom in near future), and they threw in an almost brand new sit-on lawn mower and other lawn-related crap (which is good because I don't have any lawn mower right now and I can't imagine using a push mower for this yard and can't afford a new sit-on).

Free things are good, but good luck with that cigarette smell. Good luck pooping, too.

The two highlighted things alone would scare me off of offering on a house. ESPECIALLY the first one. I hope you had a really, really, really good home inspection/specifically checked the structural issues. Termites terrify me after what happened to some close friends of my parents in FL (house got condemned, still battling the pest control company AFAIK 5 years later).

We aren't moving in until after everything is fixed (I live in PA until May and my wife is moving back when she gets a job in NJ) so by the time we are there the pooping issue will be taken care of. Haha.

The area we live in the inspector told us that there is basically no house without termite damage because of the area we are in (South Jersey Pine Barrens near the shore with sandy damp soil). We have to replace the sills between the foundation and insulate the crawl space, which is the exact same thing my parents have had to do with the three houses they bought in the area since I was a kid. The cigarette smoke is pretty bad, but for the price we got, we can live with it. I'm not going to get into details about costs and such, but the house is about $100k less than other houses of similar size in the area and with all the estimates that we've gotten we can afford the repairs. Luckily we know a lot of people who own construction, heating, plumbing, etc companies in the area so we are getting deals on everything and we'll be painting the house (and trying to get the smell out) ourselves.

Apple people have always struck me as a cult. And there is a difference between "Apple users" and "Apple people"

I think if I could have one wish, it would be to make broccoli taste like Oreos.

I'm guessing this was a not so serious and off-the-cuff statement, but if by some miracle you were granted a wish of your choice you'd waste it on that?

Think about it though. If broccoli tasted like Oreos, people would stop eating Oreo cookies, thus cutting down the obesity rate, raising the capital created by agriculture, and cutting down significantly on adult onset diabetes, heart disease, etc. created from overeating processed sugars and crap like that.

As a guy who has worked in IT all his life...here's the common view from techies...

-Their OS is made specifically for the hardware they buy in bulk to put in it, generally speaking the hardware works better with their OS due to this fact...generally speaking
-It's pretty
-It's trendy
-They overcharge for the hardware inside their pre-built computers

You want a computer to build/swap parts out? Windows/Linux
You want a computer to play games? Windows
You want a computer to be the most stable as can be/utility? Linux

You want something pretty, that's overpriced, that you can be trendy and claim its just simply better? Mac

I am in agreement with everything you said, as I have been a techie for a while too. I'm currently in the process of building a new computer from scratch. I'm a processor away from starting my build, so it's getting pretty exciting.
