not to defend him but it ain`t like he was playing along side anyone who`s been playing in exactly mid season form

He just isn`t ready and that`s ok

Wish he'd start hitting the opposing team like that.

Sure. I'm not ready to cut ties or anything, he has just been brutal.

Yup, sure looked overwhelmed, I thought that Cantin looked quiet yet solid in the few pre-season outings I saw and was kind of thinking he may be the guy to step in.

This is good news.

Bart's struggling here but should really help solidify the Providence defense.

And I think Kampfer's puck moving will help our sputtering offense.

Kampfer tonight, most likely, as Adam has been pulled back from practice.
Felt bad for the kid on that 1st goal, puck bounces between legs and Rask is on his knees like usual and surrenders top half of net. Bart needs more time down in Providence and get some playing time.

Agreed. It's time for Caron to go back down and give someone else a shot.

Although, I just went to the PB website to see the stat lines and no one is really doing much down there. I was really hoping that Hamil would start lighting it up this year.

Nonsense. Teams make trades to better insulate themselves from future variables all the time.

Bartkowski is not an NHL player and Kampfer is borderline. Ference has an injury history that can't be ignored.

It would be wise to add a vet D so we don't have to add one if injuries do hit---which would drive up cost.

Pretty basic stuff.

He has the tools. As with most young defensemen, his problems are all between his ears at the moment. He needs confidence and belief in himself, which he should hopefully get with major minutes in Providence.

Kampfer was looking solid in preseason. Hopefully he'll step in and be his old (mid-season last year) self.

Lucic should hit Horton like that every day to wake him up.

Wow, could not agree more.

Someone mentioned Mcabe in this thread. I wonder what kind of condition he's in and what kind of $?

Caron is garbage and Pouliot isn't exactly another Keith Tkachuk. A vet D and an upgrade on LW wouldn't hurt.

Please cue Recchi and Hnidy.

Gotta say...the guy doesn't have to be much more than a bottom pairing guy to fit in. I would take a look at McCabe just to make sure there's depth there.

Kampfer, while will be back tonight, who's to say how he'll hold up.

Call it nerves, but I want a move.
I'm in agreement with you. The Bruins have no depth at all when it comes to defense. No one in the AHL is ready by the looks of things. They need to sign a depth defenseman like a Shane Hnidy (maybe he can come out of retirement) who can fill in if need be.

I'd be interested in seeing McCabe on the B's. Or as also mentioned, see if Hnidy would be willing to return; both are better options than what we have in Providence if Kampfer doesn't work out.

I don't know wth happened to Bartkowski. IMO he had a great training camp last season but this year...ouch!

Hopefully he can get his act back together in Providence.

90% of the league has 7 NHL defensemen on their current roster, and a few teams have 8.

I think it hurts to not have McQuaid.

I think sending Bart back down was definitely the right thing to do. The team was practically skating 5 d-men anyway already because Bart couldn't handle the NHL just yet.

I figure Kampfer is going to be rusty but even if he only skates 5 minutes, it doesn't change much for the B's current situation and at least Bart is getting some development at a level he can compete at.

I completely agree that the team needs another d-man. If anything Bart's awful play has exposed the complete lack of depth the team has at defense.

can we end that here and now...... It was gracious of the Winnipeg Jets/Atlanta Thrashers organization to allow Hnidy on his day off, no less, to attend the Banner raising.....
