New Eklund Rumor (Something with Calgary)

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...rigger/1/39032

What on earth does Calgary have that we would want ? Not to mention giving up McDonagh on an already thin blue line ?

I would be shocked and disappointed if they lost McD for...pretty much anybody on the Flames.

LOL is it possible to have less then none ? That site for me is just a guilty pleasure, can't help but click on it, especially during a slow day at work. Just thought I'd post it on here for a discussion.

We all know McD is going no where. If they want to take Zuccarello and Christensen for Bourque we have a dealio but that won't happen

Going by team history Jarome Iginla would be a guy Slats would probably go after if he were available.

Name one time he was right other than the rumors he just repeated AFTER they were published elsewhere? Guessing where a UFA player will sign also doesn't count. It is known down to 2-3 teams where a UFA will sign just based on common sense so you can be right a certain percentage of the time without any sources.

I want to hear what trade rumor of his actually came true.

Gee, shocking that Calgary would have interest in Ryan McDonagh. The Rangers will be in Edmonton Saturday, and I propose that they have interest in Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Well, at least he's moved off Dubinsky being the focus of every Ranger rumor.

id love to have Iginla on this club...only player from Calgary that i would want. But, I wouldnt give up any of our kids to get him. and i highly doubt that a package of Thomas, EC, Wolski, and a first gets it done, becuase thats about all i would give for him.

We just arent good matches...frankly the Rangers arent good matches for most teams because the parts other teams would want, just arent available.

With the injuries on the blueline, there's no way the Rangers are trading McDonagh...and in general, I can only see him going for a legitimate established star player in return. Calgary only has one of those as it turns out.

Yeah, and you can also infer this from his also including Christensen in the article. Two further opposite ends of the spectrum, there could not be at this juncture.

I specifically remember him calling at least a few trade deadline deals. Does that mean he is a great source? No.

But if he wasn't credible at all, HF wouldn't allow it to be brought up.

I'd take Bourque on this team for sure. He's very similar to Dubinsky, but the difference is that he knows what kind of player he is, while Dubi changes his mind seemingly every night.

He's on an affordable contract, is good for 25+ goals, and plays well in the corners. The negatives are his injury history and the fact that I could see a few teams being interested in him.

However, I don't think there's anything on Calgary's current roster that would even make me consider moving McDonagh. Iginla is great, but who knows how much longer he'll be playing? Do we risk a potential top-pairing d-man for 2 or 3 years of Iginla? I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that.

Unless the Flames want to take Wolski or Christensen off of our hands, I don't see the two teams being trade partners, especially after Feaster acting very ******** after the Erixon debacle.

The only players I'd be interested in from the Flames are Bourque, Iginla, and Giordano. The last two aren't happening, and although Bourque is on the team's third line at the moment, he still has value.

Remember guys...discuss the rumor, not the source. BTW, there is little doubt that Eklund has some NHL sources, particularly with the Flyers. He has broken stories before.

That said, I don't buy this one. I don't think that, right now, the Rangers are going to trade McDonagh, nor do I see much that they'd be interested in from Calgary right now (assuming they are smart enough to realize that you don't need a nearly done Iginla). Maybe Bourque, I guess, but I'm afraid how much Calgary would overvalue him. I do agree with TXRJW: Bourque knows what kind of player he is (something Dubinsky doesn't).

Indeed he did, was going to say you guys have short memories. Eklund isn't real reliable but he does have some sources, most of his free agent rumors are fairly accurate. Trade wise he is pretty unreliable, but that doesn't seem to stop people from going to his site.

There is a website that tracks all of his rumors and he gets 2.7% right or something along those lines.

Anyone of us here could pull crap out of ours ***** and have a better % of being right.

People using the reasoning to not trade McD because of Staal and Sauer injuries.
If they were healthy, McD would still be unavailable.

Bad teams with not much on their roster or their system, like Calgary tend to overvalue what little they do have.

These kind of teams look for someone to pay a kings ransom for their 1 maybe 2 good players.

No thank you.

Mike Richards to LA. He had it a few minutes before everyone else.

I would trade Zuccarello and a second-rate prospect like Yogan and/or Kundratek for Rene Bourque. I wouldn't give up anything more significant than that. I doubt Calgary does that, however. ut we are not a contender that can afford to give up high-end prospects for second liners. He won't make us into contenders.
