He's kind of like Pelfrey or Pagan on the Mets.. You see him at times showing signs he could be pretty damn good than something happens and your like wait wtf was that man?!
Yeah, I have been saying the same thing, there are a lot of Met/Islander correlations but none more telling than Pelfrey/Comeau. I think the Mets will finally give up on Pelfrey this year. Comeau can't ruin a game like Pelfrey can, but they can fool you.
I do think Comeau is sitting as a result of "who else to sit for toughness" Gillies is needed for intimidation after the first 3 games where guys were getting ambushed late in the game.
There are only 4 centers on the roster, so Bailey can't sit
Reasoner and Pandolofo are PK specialists
You have to suit up 6 dmen and 2 goalies
Rolston is on the PP
Martin is toughness.
The other 4 wingers are
a) 2 30 goal scorers
b) PAP (top assist man in the league)
c) Okposo, who is on the PK and PP, and is the heart of the team in some way.
I like Comeau a lot, but I think he is going to end up in Calgary very soon as Calgary might want to shed a big salary to us like JayBo, but who knows. We get an injury on the wing and Comeau will be a fixture nightly again.
I've said it a few times on Twitter and in the latest post on my blog today - it's all about effort.
Capuano has said repeatedly, following the loss to the Panthers and the win against Tampa (the games I actually covered so far his season) - that he felt there were "passengers on the bus". The very next game they play - Comeau is scratched.
Doesn't take much to connect the dots here.
You can just see the difference between Bailey and Comeau, Bailey has been doing more and skating like he's doing whatever he can for the team - it's just not there for him right now. Comeau on the other hand, seems to trail the play, steps behind, bad decisions ect.
Honestly, I am happy that Capuano has the foresight to call out his players and hold them accountable when it's warranted. While Gordon had his dog house, it wasn't always the right reasons or even the right times.
I disagree about Bailey, he has been a passenger for the most part too, just have to suit up 4 centers, so he lucks out.
"Obviously you want to be in the lineup every night. It's tough watching," said Comeau, who skated with injured D Milan Jurcina, backup G Evgeni Nabokov and third G Rick DiPietro this morning. "I just have to stay as positive as I can and see what happens."
Comeau said he and assistant coach Doug Weight had a private conversation this morning to help clarify Comeau's situation.
"He just told me to keep working hard in practice and that the coaching staff has all the faith in the world in me," he said. "This is just the way it is right now."
I'm just waiting for someone to defend Bailey with, "He broke up the play in front of the empty net." - But I guess since it resulted in the 4th goal, it's a tough argument.
At least Okposo shows you something. The guy's got passion. But Bailey is the consumate floater. I'd love to hear the news he's been traded in about 3 minutes.

we can't point to one "okay" play and be happy about it. I saw some nice things from Bailey at times, couple of nice plays on rushes, some good effort...but also some bonehead plays. He needs to be better.
But I like him as a player. I wouldn't give up on him, but I would have surrounded him (and other young players) with better NHL talent around them. But that's another story.
Comeau was circling with the hot dogs and coughed up beer all night. He passed the food down alright and all but he wasn't hitting the bathroom once all night. He's a bum. Trade his 24 goals for a 10 goal scorer or something.
Or Bailey. he sucks too. Ketchup on hot dogs all last year.
What kind of value are you guys expecting should Comeau be traded? More specifically, what from the Avs would get him? Roster player (Kobasew+)? Prospect (Gaunce+)? Pick?
I ask because the Avs need a LW (Mueller's got head issues again) to play with Duchene. He's been underwhelming this season thus far and needs a spark. (Was demoted to 4th line winger on Saturday, played 2nd fewest minutes among all skaters.)
I think the end result will be Comeau moved for a defensemen. I would think that sending him or Bailey to Carolina for Bryan Allen would easily help both teams.
