Oh and while there would be tons of boo-birds all over, if there's a time you CAN tank it's now. 'Cause it's jam packed at the Bell Centre with tons of people waiting for tickets. 'Cause if RDS isn't willing to get the rights to the games when their contract ends, there's TVA Sports who will take the risks 'cause in the end, the supposed incredible and really bad tanking might only happen for 2 years. 2 years of tanking, with some 1st round and 2nd round picks additions along the way, with the upcoming 2012 and 2013drafts? That would be more than enough to get that team going. Add the upcoming guys in Juniors and you have a force to be reckon with in no time (hoping you also have addressed your coaching and management issues).

Yet, it's not the time to take that decision. Not after 5 games makes no sense. And the tanking approach also makes no sense at that time of the year, you don't bail out like that. But when comes trade deadline and you're 10 points out of it, I don't see the problem. And don't think that adding a Niklas Sundstrom for a 2nd round pick will fix everything.
Change 'tanking' for 'rebuilding' and I agree with most of what you've said here.

Easier said then done, which team would want Gomez right now? They would be crazy to even give future considerations for him!

I've been wanting the Habs to tank every since 2008-2009. I feel that we have been lacking a real superstar forward for such a long time that tanking one season, i wouldn't mind at all. Our core with a Yakupov or Grigorenko would easily be one of the top 5 in the league.
Franchise forward- Yakupov/Grigorenko
Franchise d-men-Subban=check
Franchise Goalie-Price=check
Great forward-Pacioretty=check
Great defencemen-Beaulieu=check

Tanking - if it really exist - is OUT of question for Molson & cie.

Their hands are tied with all the fat contracts given to 5 of their 6 top forwards and to their overaged d-men, markov, Spacek and Gill.

The remaining games in October are key. If they can have a .500 month, they gonna be on the right path. If not.............................

Teams with money don't tank.

All the tankers were teams that had no money until they drafted a bunch of high picks and ended up as a powerhouse. Now these teams have money, but they didn't before.

And that's why I absolutely enjoy pretty much all your posts. Absolutely agree with everything said.

Galchenyuk or Forsberg maybe but the ones that tanked successfully in the past usually didn't hesitate to throw an entire season away for a better future.

If I had to choose between a big trade or tanking with no other way out, I'll choose tanking any day of the week.

How about Philly, they have money and tanked and ended up with JVR.

Boucher only has two wins this year, therefore he is a horrible coach.

So trading your best player (Forsberg), for prospects is not considered tanking

Please enlightment me with your definition of tanking.

The Toronto game is a must win, possible turning point, and could spell the end for Martin if we lose, (or at least start some serious rumblings around the Bell Center) This team has not had too many positives starting out this year, we need a drastic change at any level. Beating the high flying leafs would be a good start.
