I would be 100% behind him staying with the team for the foreseeable future as the 4th line center. He and Rupp could some damage together out there.
Newbury didn't look good in the faceoff circle--he's been 1 for 3 (25%) in both games he's played. He's played an average of 5 1/2 minutes a game. I watched the 2nd half of the game last night and he was invisible.

He's nothing special. But if the organization is only going to play him 5-6 minutes a game, it really doesn't matter.

The joys of fighting in the NHL--you get to sit in a penalty box, instead of going through central booking.

Pretty much this - although I did like how he attacked with no reservations when Richards got hit from behind.

Thats JAM...I think. Been trying to figure out what that means for 2 and a half years now.

Last time i looked 1-3 was 33% not 25 lol..
Newbury brings so much more to the team right now then zuc. Zuc is a top 6 or nothing player right now he doesn't fit

I specifically watched him in the face-off circle and I believe that (2) of those were either tie-ups or lost by his wingers after he won the faceoff.

Last game he was in the box for 17 minutes so of course he didn't play all that much.

I even stated earlier on that I didnt think he was anything more than a 4th liner. But it doesn't mean he can't be valuable to the team IN HIS ROLE.

I dont see how its gonna hurt him,a few mounts in The AHL.

If he leaves now,he has to sign a entry level contract again,if he choose to return here later in his career.
Next time,he should go for a one way contract.
Stayin NA for the season Zuck. Or else I fear you will regret.

Sorry, it's been a long week--when I checked the stats, Newbury won one faceoff each game and lost 3 each game. Two for eight=25%. And no penalty kill time.

We can rant all we want about what he brings, but at 6 minutes a night, it makes very little difference. Especially on the score sheet.

yeah i've been following it online...his first game there this season and that is what he does, can't we find a way to get him back up in the nyr lineup and use him correctly?

I was thinking lines like these...where all 4 lines are stable and equal and are rolled evenly as long as they are all having good games

step-richards-gabby
dubi-anisimov-cally
zucc-??????-feds
prust-boyle-rupp

they would just need a center to play the middle for zucc and feds....possibly Newbury...and then ec is the extra or gone

How many players... especially smaller players... have we seen dominate the AHL but barely perform in the NHL? Him putting up points down there doesn't mean a whole lot to me.

I would hardly consider .5 PPG in the NHL barely producing.

point taken...however, he seems to have worked hard on his weaknesses this offseason and worked hard in camp and he definitely earned a spot on the NYR roster out of camp, and should still have a spot torts just needs to find out how to fit him in and get him ice time...

last season in the ahl he played 36 games and recorded 29 points (13G,16A)...and 1 game in the ahl this season 3 points (1G,2A)...

now in the NHL last season where he was sat quite a bit without much ice time and had lots to improve on he still managed to play in 42 games and recorded 23 points (6G,17A)...

theoretically if he got the ice time he needs to be successful in the nhl with his supposedly improved game, he should get more points and help contribute

The MZA saga is regretably sounding more like Petr Prucha II everyday.

Cos the kid is ready for NHL. This is the third time he is sent down and it's now time for Zucc to take one step forward instead of one step back. I don't think it's good for his mental health to remain a few months in AHL. I must admit that it had been very exciting to see him in line with Anisimov and Callahan, before the administration takes a decision to remove Zucc from rangers. and if it works, you automatic have a stronger 3 and 4 line.

It's Rangers style of play that has to change. There's mediocre players for a mediocre team with mediocre tactics. Once there comes a young artist you square peg it, and basically ask a young Monet to paint houses. The club needs a kick in the arse.

I could not have said it better myself. I am not impressed by Gaborik, Stepan, Wolski , Boyle and Anisimov. You dont win Stanley Cup with players like that in top 6 forwards. Only Richards Prust and Callahan have good quality

Two guys that didnt have the physical tools to consistently play in the NHL? Yea, I guess.

Difference is Prucha did have a period there where he made a real impact.
