Talk about blinders. Try watching the kid finishing his checks, noticing his slick zone-exits and his creativity with the puck. The flip pass from inside the Lightning's blueline to a streaking Lecavalier? Connolly.

The kid is 19 years old and already looks at home with top-notch
NHLers and if kept up in the bigs, will only going to get stronger as the season progresses.

Really impressed with the game we played last night. Hopefully the chemistry these guys found continues for a while; everyone just seemed to be clicking and it obviously helps when we're more disciplined. Team looked more comfortable playing in front of Garon.

On a side note, how did Vinny get an assist on Malone's first goal?? Looked like Stamkos and Bergeron who started the play with Vinny just screening the goalie. Maybe I didn't see it right?

I want to see an offensive explosion from connolly in these last two games to show that he can put everything together. would defintely help round out our lines and give us top 9 that can score if he can stick and keep up with 91 and 26.

its our defense that is the concern though. we seen some guys step up last night, we need it to continue.

I don't think the lines will change based on the fact we won last night. Malone-Stamkos-Purcell looked great, along with Connolly-Lecavalier-St.Louis. I'm guessing Boucher will be sticking with what worked.

The puck deflected off his skate to Malone.

It was a pretty funny sight Friday as the Tampa Bay Lightning practiced at the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon. Actually, it was a good 10 minutes after practice had ended and coach Guy Boucher was on a landing above the ice gesturing and yelling at his players, who were still skating, shooting and working on faceoffs, to get off the ice. Like a parent with unruly children, Boucher was ignored.
That's it. Time to can Boucher, he's clearly lost the team.

Don't criticize, it took GBL 16 hours to get approval just to say that.

Its not enough to have a good aim in the game; you have to be able to pull the trigger and put points on the board. As Yzerman's first, first round pick he sure as hell is going to get every benefit of the doubt (which he has and will continue to get). He has been getting 14 minutes a game, 90% of which are top-line shifts. He has one assist (a second assist that was marginal - he pushed it into the corner - the Dman cupped it - Shannon stole it and threw it to Moore in front of the net for the goal). He'll likely get 15 to 16 minutes per game over the next two. If he pots a goal he has a 50% chance of staying. Two goals? Buy a case of suntan lotion. No goals? Hmm? Probably goes northwest. Yzerman doesn't want to embarrass himself by not giving him every opportunity (and he won't on this front); but he runs a risk if he places a bet on someone with one assist over 9 games with the kind of showcase BC has received.

It'll be interesting to see what they do after game 9. I'd like to see some better playmaking ability out of him, either in his passing or shooting game. He's got to start putting all these little things together.

So far he has shown "nice to have," but not "have to have now."

Patience, young one, Shannon/Gilroy/Connolly just need a little time.

Bergenheim didn't start off so hot last year and people were all over his jock.

People act like he should be tearing it up. He doesn't have to be a rookie of the year. The only thing he needs to do is make us a better team with him in the lineup.

People act like that because of the qualifier when he's spoken about. 'If he hadn't been injured, the question would have been 'Taylor, Tyler, or Brett?''

Since he's being associated with those two, and they did so well in their first season, there is a certain level of expectation for Connolly to perform similarly.

Forgetting that Seguin and Hall are now a year ahead of him in NHL experience, and weren't exactly tearing it up at the beginning of their rookie years, either.

^ This. It is still a performance (production) league, not a development league. He should not be held do a different standard (but he is).
