Odd. Feel like we could have got more for Booth.
Samuelsson seems like the kind of guy who does great playing with top-tier players (Zetterberg, the Sedins). I am not sure what he'll produce here in Florida. And I agree about Sturm.

It might not be done as a dump but that's one of the effects.

Somebody please tell me there's more to this story, as in tomorrow it will be announced that we are making another deal.

At first glance this looks like a really really really bad deal.

Yeah, I think it's a salary dump, personally.

You said 100x more effective. That has nothing to do with salary or term.

Probably not even, I think Samuelsson is a plug. This is Booth for cap space.

I'm all for this. He's a VETERAN 50 point winger who is 34. Perfect fit for where we are at now.

He did score 50 points last season. A lot of that has to do with playing with the Sedins on the powerplay, though.

this is a win win.

canucks get a young guy who cant get his game to the next level and give him kess, an old friend and teammate to help him.

you guys get two 40+ pt guys instead of one under performing one and you get to fill spots on 2 lines.

Samuelsson is no "plug". Far from it.

Sammy almost never saw power play time with the Sedins last year, except for a few games running the point when Edler had his injury. He was all over the line up. I wouldn't say it's completely inappropriate to credit the Sedins with some of the explosiveness he showed, but the guy can produce on his own, too. He's still shifty and dangerous. When he gives a hoot.

That remains to be seen, especially on this team.

I wouldn't say he's a plug but he is a very frustrating player. He makes low percentage plays that leave you shouting.

Sturm is useless. Someone said he will be a 40 point player? If he puts up 20 I'd be surprised.

Samuelsson will play here, no doubt.
He might help the powerplay even more, actually.

He spent about half the season playing the point on the first unit. Edler missed 31 games and Ehrhoff missed 3.

Edit: he also played with the Sedins at even strength sporadically throughout the year, including the 10 game stretch where Burrows was hurt.

Oh, no doubt he plays here. I just don't really know/think he has a future here or some long term plan involving Samuelsson. Perhaps if he produces and becomes a prominent force. How likely is that though?

Can you positively argue that Booth is better than Samuelsson? Age aside, I don't think its that much of a downgrade in terms of offensive production and might even be an upgrade defensively.

This deal is all about giving players new opportunities. It might work who knows, but Booth wasn't getting it done at the end of the day. He sure can skate the puck into the offensive zone though! (and then nothing happens)

Just saying I think Samuelsson can contribute some.

Sturm is basically the equivalent of Reinprecht playing wing, it seems like.
