Happy to see Khabibulin playing some strong hockey too . And I'm pretty sure he has another year after this doesn't he ?

Can't say enough about the way Smyth/Horc/Jones are playing right now . Their shifts are setting the tone for the game . Not giving up on any pucks , and they're strong on the cycle too .

Corey Potter is a beauty.

RNH is bloody brilliant.

Khabbi is ridiculous.

That is all.

I really hope after this win, that Renney could stop with the MacT antics and stick with one goalie, that being Khabi.

Nice to see Renny kept everyone involved and engaged instead of coaching scared like in the Minny game.

Solid game from the defense and team systems play, and glad that Bulin got his shutout after the disappointing last game. The Rangers are probably getting an earful from Torts right now though. Some very weak efforts from their players tonight, especially in the final 2 minutes when they got that powerplay. It's like their intensity fell off a cliff just when they could have dialed it up and gotten a chance to make it close.

It was awesome to see Potter score that goal tonight. You could tell it meant the whole world to him.

Hopefully our guys can stay hungry. Young guys tend to coast after a little success.

I think if you compare the lines that we ended the season with last year to the lines that we rolled tonight... you get the difference between a team that finishes last to one that competes.

We're still a young team, and you're going to get those growing pains along the road every now and then, but tonight was a solid effort. Biggest thing for me tonight was RNH showing why he deserves to stick up in the bigs.

Once Hemmer gets back, we'll be scoring a lot more goals.

Agreed.
Khabibulin played very well again.
Sutton ...great slide to break up the 3 on 1.
Smid.... another very strong game.
Gilbert, Potter and Whitney were pretty solid again. Barker seemed alright tonight.... but he seems very laid back ...not enough urgency in his game?
Don't think anyone played poorly.... Gagner, but that's likely a little rust.

Fun to read this thread with the lunacy going on over on my Rangers boards.

Your guys played a fantastic game tonight. One most of us Rangers fans should be intimately familiar with, although they all seem to have forgotten. I can't even tell you how many games the Rangers played like your Oilers played tonight during the Renney/Jagr years. Total team D. Blocking shots. Causing guys to try to force passes. Causing guys to shoot wide. Opportunistic goal-scoring. Some timely goaltending. These are the things that are indicators of a perfectly played Renney hockey game. Great job tonight. I hope the success for your team continues!

Highly impressive poise with the puck (again) tonight. The defensive methods of this team seem to be totally transformed from last year.

Not even a concern to see Gaborik get a couple of breakaways. He's world class sniper who has done that to many, many guys in the past & we can live with that. But give credit to The Wall for making the saves.

Potter finally drills the net with his big shot & thats what we've been needing through so many of these taut games!

Just one guy to take one good scoring chance and nail it down.

This game looked a lot like the win over NSH last week.

Wonderful team play.

That was a great TEAM win, it's amazing what a difference it makes when the vets play well. Smyth-Horc-Jones were phenomenal tonight, they played most of the game in the Rangers zone, fantastic stuff.

I loved RNH's game, he was terrific in all zones, Eberle played fine but just needs to settle down when he gets in scoring areas and Hall is clearly fighting it now. He almost cost us in the 3rd with some boneheaded plays, he'll be learn and be better for it.

Khabibulin has been amazing, vezina caliber amazing. I don't know if it'll keep up but WOW. His play might put off Dubnyk's development for another year, i don't know if that's a good thing long term but Renney needs to continue to ride Khabby for the time being. It's weird because he usually plays like this in contract years but as we all know only too well, this is no contract year but whatever, good for him.

The defense outside of some Barker laziness in the 3rd was AGAIN very good. Whitney started to play better in the second half of the game and we MIGHT have found a top 4 gem in Potter. I think that he has maybe made 1-2 mistakes all year, he's been a god send. Smid has been great as well, i don't think that he gets enough talk around here for turning around his game.

See what happens when Renney employs an attacking, forechecking system up 1-2 goals, it makes a world of difference and tires out the other team, the Rangers were dead tired in the last several minutes. This is why a lot us were moaning after the last 2 games, we could have been 5-1-1 but i digress.
Anyway, that was fun to watch, lets keep this thing rolling.

Smid deserves some props tonight too. That little stick check he made while sliding on his stomach on the PK was impressive among other little plays.

His game has gone up a notch this season as has Gilbert's.

I think the Oilers would do much better in the East, even if we occasionally got lit up a bit more. The Minnys/Calgarys/Vancouvers just grind us to death.
