Connecticut Wins on Zuccarello Game Winner

The Connecticut Whale were heavily outshot tonight by the Springfield Falcons, and for about 70 minutes all the play was pretty much in the Whale zone, but at the final buzzer the score was 2-1 Whale, so the ride home tonight is a happy one for the Connecticut team. There were many mistakes, particularly by [...]

Good for Zucc. Maybe this will raise his stock enough that we'll get more than a 3rd for him.

Both the Rangers and Zuc need to be patient. Let him rip up some AHL goaltending for a bit and see what transpires with Rangers. An injury or desperation just may get him back in the line up and get him another chance to prove he belongs.

Considering our first two lines are playing like crap, why not bring up Zuccs and use him (AND ACTUALLY GIVE HIM MINUTES, TORTS)? Cut Christensen, send Newbury to the Whale and use Zuccs and Wolski. Put Fedotenko on the fourth line.

If we're legitimately going to shake up the lines, I'd try this:

Boyle-Richards-Gaborik
Wolski-Dubinsky-Zuccarello
Stepan-Anisimov-Callahan
Fedotenko-Rupp-Prust

Otherwise:

Stepan-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Zuccarello
Wolski-Boyle-Callahan
Fedotenko-Rupp-Prust

Same. Really hope he proves us wrong though. Doesn't seem to be well equipped for the NHL game, definitely thrives better on the bigger ice surface. We shall see though.

Seems to be doing pretty well on small ice in the Whale

Against weaker competition. Thriving in the AHL=/= thriving in the NHL. I haven't seen anything from him while he's been up here outside of his shootout attempts that's particularly impressed me. I see the skill there but I think his size is too big of an issue to overcome.

The fact remains he was sent down to prove himself further. He's doing just that.

Zuccarello-Richards-Gaborik is something I'd like to see. I HIGHLY doubt Torts' ever does it though.

At least we've established he'd make a good AHLer.

Maybe if he got a swedish passport he would get that shot. But Torts is like most american coaches, so afraid of trying something new

Not even his OT GWG against Hurricanes? Or all the assists he racked up last year?

Gaborik is no good

He got the gwg - off a lucky bounce - and made some good passes offensively and backskated well, but he didn't really have a good game. He turned the puck over and lost most battles along the boards.

Hagelin and Mitchell made that line look good.

Give the kid a month or so in the AHL. If he keeps producing at this rate, call him back up.

Well, then he absolutely should fit perfectly for the Rangers. My guess is that 95% av the Rangers´ goals are lucky bounces and deflections

Lucky bounce? He has scored the exact same goal before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWna4lAWzis (55sek out in this) The one last night was nicer , he was alone behind the net and used the goalies back to get a goal, no lucky bounce! its skill, he banks it of the goalie. did so last game to, his first goal on friday. he shoots from the side and it goes off the goalies pads and in. he scored/scores alot of goals like that!

Bring him up and play him, Torts. I have a feeling he's going to get called up before the home opener.
