He couldn't be assigned to the AHL directly. The Rangers would have to pass him through waivers as well.

Brule earns 1.85 million this year (exactly twice the cost of EC).

But if he's picked up on re-entry waivers the Rangers only pick up half of that salary, so it would be equal to EC's.

Not excited by it, but I certainly believe the rumor. If Glen Sather was a poorly translated Japanese video game villain from the early 90s, his motto would be:

"All your reclamations are belong to us."

Matheson thinks that he could fit on a team in a fourth line role.

After placing him on waivers, Oilers GM Steve Tambellini said:

“He’s a talented young man who plays with an edge and has shown he can score goals at this level,” said Tambellini after the Oilers practised in Jasper. “He just needs to get back and play the type of minutes he needs to play, to re-establish himself and get his confidence back. I haven’t given up on him.”
yeah, that makes sense.
MZA, Thomas, Bourque. how many small guys not named St. Louis do we need?

Sather's reasoning: If we have all of the small skilled players, someone will have to give us something good if they want a small skilled player!

Supply and demand!

I'm not exactly seeing hat everyone seems to think makes him such a clearly superior player to Erik Christensen.

In fact, i'd dare to say Christensen is the better player. Just about any way you care to look at it from.

I think if he was on re-entry a few teams would be interested in him
