Not asking whether he is good or not, but you would think a goalie being paid as much as him wouldn't be so average.

Will ever live up to what we pay him?

I don't know any goalie who can live up to a contract like that, but the question is whether or not he will bring the stability needed in goal. The good news is that I won't have to listen to the media or fans say the Flyers need to get a goalie for the next 9 years.

And not having to hear that from the media alone might be worth the money ! LOL

No goalie is worth that contract.

Instead we'll hear how awful that contract is and the constant comparison to Luongo's contract.

He will be worth his contract when Lavi gets his head outta his ass and figures out how to set up lines.

Not that I think Schenn is a bad player by any stretch but we were winning just fine without him. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Simple as that.

I hear what you're saying, but it's early in the season, this is the time for line juggling. Players will not have the luxury of playing with the same exact personnel all season so it's good for them to play some with everyone. It also doesn't hurt for him to get a look at some different combo's.

If he plays at a high level until he's like...39, 40. Sure. He could be worth it. If he doesn't (which is more likely), then absolutely not and we are up Poop Creek. Of course, it's not his fault the organization decided to give him anything he wants with pretty much no negotiations or real leverage.

After 2 games the contract looked like a great deal.

After 5 games everyone is calling him average. What the hell is wrong with this fanbase.

We could get 2 good games out of 5 from Bob/Boucher/Leighton/Emery/Biron/Nittimaki/Burke/Esche/Cechmanic/Hackett/Beezer/Snow/Roussel etc. without the $51 million dollar contract that will outlast Pronger.

He'll be worth it. Bryzgalov has mentioned that he hasn't hit a groove yet and that once he settles down, he'll be fine. I think the fact that he's facing less shots than he's used to might be something. A lot of goalies who are used to facing a lot of rubber seem to have a difficult transition to when shots are fewer and further between. I know during the preseason that Bryzgalov mentioned his feet got cold waiting for shots.

Give the contract to Bobrovsky instead. He deserves it more.

Your act is old. Some of us have been saying all along it was a bad contract. It would be a bad contract even if he had 6 shutouts right now.

******* Philly fans: Want star goalie, complain that we could be doing better with mediocre goalies.

We should have gone after Vokoun - he signed for 1.1M on caps. Wow!

He was by far the best goalie available and you bet your ass that if he would have hit the open market, his contract would have probably been worse than what he got from us

Two things:

1) He's played in five games. Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, Ken Dryden, etc had stretches where they looked average.

2) If the Flyers win a Cup, every player on the team is worth their contract.

Don't even bother. This discussion happened like ten times during the offseason. Be prepared to hear a thousand "I KNOW VOKOUN WOULD HAVE SIGNED FOR LESS HERE AND NO ONE ELSE WOULD HAVE OFFERED BRYZ THAT BIG OF A CONTRACT!" and so forth and so on.

Don't go there. It really isn't worth it. For the sakes of the argument

the flyers were the only team in the NHL interested in Bryzgalov's service's.

If it is a good contract will be clear after the contract has ended not before! The only reason we will know it before is, when he has career ending injuries/ mental problems or he wins a cup with us.

For me its a huge risk too give players such long contracts without looking on their skill or age....

Yashin, DiPietro, Gomez, Drury, Redden are all on huge long contracts, everyone is happy when they have signed them. But in the long run its all busted!

So in my book its a bad contract only because its too long and too much money.

If he would have signed 6.5 for 3 years i would say nothing and defend the move of the franchise although he donŽt live up my expectations till now. I will give him time and a fair chance, but the contract stay a risky one...

hope you can understand what iŽam trying to say
