Zuccarello-Richards-Gaborik is something I'd like to see. I HIGHLY doubt Torts' ever does it though.
He wasn't sent down to prove himself...Torts said the decision was made to give more PP time to AA and he was having issues getting MZA ice time.

well the first line was looking pretty good, same with the second, and same with the third for the most part, and torts i think was really letting them play to get used to each other again with small line juggling, but they weren't looking great last night, so maybe some new lines are in order and zuccs will get a shot...can we send ec down and keep newbury? I felt Newbury was quite noticeable and physical...and ec is well i don't even know he is dressed

Aside from Cally's 11 SOG game the 2nd line has not looked good at any point in the 6 games this season, aside from some "flashes" here and there.

haha yeah...let me rephrase that...and also mention i'm not really with it today, but i meant they were left together to try and get back what they have had in the past, and apparently this year it is not there

Issues getting MZA ice time.....

That means I dont like much of what youre doing. When a player with potential to be in the nhl is sent down they want to quicly prove they dont belong in the minors.

Get rid of some of the grinders and plug in some real talent. Obvioulsy we need more talent.

Fedo? Newbury? Boyle? Dubinsky? They havent done anything.

Sit Fedo and Newbury insertWolski and Zuccarello.

Keep the 4th line bangers together and give them 8 minutes, they dont need anymore (Boyle, Prust, Rupp)

Fedotenko hasn't played well but he'll pick it up. I remember everyone last year bashing Feds to start the season but he got better as the season went along. He's one of those guys you want around in the playoffs. I do agree about Newbury and the 4th line of Rupp-Boyle-Prust though.

All this big ice stuff is nonsense. Zooks made a beautiful set up vs Philly before the team left NA this preseason. He scored .55 points per game last season (5th best on the team despite limited minutes). He had the 3rd highest points per minute on the team last season. That was all on regular sized NHL rinks.

The bottom line is if this kid is given 12-15 minutes per game including some PP time with some legit players he will put up at least 45-50 points. Last season we had 1 single player put up 50 or more points. All that matters is if you can grind despite that not leading to many goals. Yes I know goals and assists are not all that matters but they sure do help win some games not to mention make the games more enjoyable to watch. If we just want to grind grind grind 75% of the game get used to a lot of the kind of scoring droughts as we have had the last 3 seasons.

Is he injured?
Is he traded?
Is he recalled?
Has he left?
Or is he just tired?

Edit: The Whale tok the lead by 1-0 by J. Audy-Marchessault and Niemi got the pass

Give the kid a month or so in the AHL. If he keeps producing at this rate, call him back up.
Three stars
1. CT - 33 Cameron Talbot
2. SPR - 1 Danny Taylor
3. CT - 36 Mats Zuccarello

I won't be shocked to see Zuke back soon and Hagelin eventually

It perplexes me that Torts didn't give MZA a shot on the top line left wing.

I like Torts as a coach but I think our break out system, our send the puck to the net and jam type pp, and his stubbornness playing grinder after grinder does hold us back at times. We need more offensive creativity

3 goals and 1 assist in two games...

That's same as Gaborik in six games and 1 point less than Richards.

That = the potential of Sedin-like passes.

".On defense Wade Redden and Blake Parlett had great performances for the Whale. Redden had four shots and was a plus-1, while Parlett had three shots and fought Adam Mair after Springfield’s veteran threw a hard hit at Zuccarello."

I wouldn't go that far, but you have a guy who has equivalent skill to W2, except MZA brings the fire every night.

If MZA had W2's size he would've been a first round pick. Really odd he didn't at least get a shot at that spot before being sent down. Obviously it's not because Tort's wants to keep the line defensively stronger, since Steps isn't exactly a defensive dynamo.

Although I defend Torts because I think our struggles are a matter of the players also not showing up, tne thing i'll blame definitely on him this year is the handling of MZA. Not a fan of how he did it whatsoever.

Redden has really been a stand up guy since his demotion. He has never bashed anyone or complained. I respect the guy despite the contract. I was surprised he is playing. Somebody on twitter said he broke his leg last week. I guess that was a phony report

You can say that 5 more times but it still wont make it true. Both Zooks and Wolski would have pro teams in the NHL and Europe seeking out their skills.

I don't really know how you can say that...
Neither Wolski or MZA have really had a shot this year.
Wolski put in a ton of effort in the offseason, and hasn't played very much at all this year.
I mean you can't really judge his preseason performance because Gaborik has been crap in preseason, and now hes playing like a man possessed.
Fact is Wolski and MZA, are along the with Anisimov the only other skilled players on our team aside from Gabby and Richards.

Tortorella needs to give them more than 10 minutes of ice time.
Zuccarello produced roughly .5 PPG as a rookie last yr...he can clearly put up points. However he can't playing with Christensen and Rupp.

Lines should look like this:

Wolski-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-MZA
Fedotenko-Stepan-Callahan
Prust-Boyle-Rupp

All three lines can potentially score, and our skilled players are in a position to succeed. All of our lines now have "jam" except our first line which really doesn't need it.
