Sam Rosen

So I don't get to watch most of the games here at school because we don't get MSG, but I saw some people saying how Sam wasn't announcing the game last night. I was watching the ATL-DET football game, and just realized that Sam is announcing football for Fox. Since when does he do football too?

Just curious, never noticed he did this, but good for him I guess.

I'm pretty sure he's been doing it for a while. I've been hearing him for at least a couple years...

He never does Saturday games because of football the following day. I think he announces/d for the Redskins.

He's been doing it for a while.

Rosen has also been a play-by-play announcer for The NFL on Fox since 1996.

Yes, except one time he said "And the Rangers recover the fumble!" lol, it was pretty funny

he's been doing it well over 10 years. Pretty much since that stupid dancing robot has been around. Back when fox was doing hockey games and had that glowing comet puck. They probably liked working with him back then and made him a lucrative NFL broadcast offer.

He's great, just like he is in the booth for the Rangers.

I believe that when Chris Russo was on Wfan he used to joke with and about Sams travel schedule. I also remember when Sam got caught in a blizzard somewhere and had to miss a Fox Game and it was joked about.
Jim Gordon who I think Sam replaced was also a longtime football announcer with the Giants. I know Sam has his detractors but when he retires we will miss him, It,s a power play goal!

Sam is a fantastic football announcer just as he is a fantastic hockey announcer.

The only "detractors" are Debby and Fishie fans. I would take Sam easily over Doc when he was a Deb announcer. And Sam is better than anything the Fishies have ever had.

That's not true. There are Ranger fans that aren't Rosen fans.

Where are they? Maybe they don't speak up enough out of fear of being smacked upside the head.

I mean, Sam is getting a bit forgetting sometimes and a bit slow. But he's still better than most announcers out there.

Met Sam and JD before a game back in 2002 (I was fortunate to play a HS game on the Garden ice during the day and stay for the Rangers/Blue Jackets game that night--Bure had a hat trick that night, and it was Dan Blackburn's last NHL victory) and they couldn't believe I asked them for an autograph on my program! "Really? You want out autographs??" haha I just said that I considered them apart of my family (which is true!) Couldn't be nicer guys...

Last year if you recall Sam covered the snow game in Philly then took Amtrak back up to MSG for the Rangers game. He arrived midway through the second period, let Giannone finish the period out then took over for the third. The guy loves the Rangers and wants to call every game, but the money Fox pays him is just too good not to take.

He's been doing the NFL since before 96. I remember during the 91-92 season he called a Rangers/Sabres game that the Rangers won in OT and then was calling the Jets/Bills game the next day and made mention of it.

I think he's been with Fox since 96. But yeah, he's been doing NFL forever.

Give me Sam messing up first names every once in a while, and his enthusiasm, over anybody else in the league any day.

Love Sam, it's going to be a sad day when he retires.

Yeah...that must be it. Fearful of head smackings...here...from you. Sorry. I'm not a fan of his. Never was. Don't necessarily want him gone but don't really care either way.

I guess you hate great announcing. Must suck to hate something so great that everyone else loves.

Sam has been one of the best play by play guys in the league for a while. He's on the downswing, but still clearly one of the better guys.

Yeah, horrible. I lose sleep over it every night. And "hate" is your word. I wouldn't waste hate on something like this. Why is it so incomprehensible to you that I'm not a Rosen fan?
