It’s no time to panic
By Chris Roy Published: 19th October 2011

Quote:
The Portland Pirates aren’t quite ready to hit the panic button on their season.

After all, it’s only three games into the season.

“I would say it’s two months too early to be hitting the panic button,” said Pirates coach Ray Edwards emphatically. “Without a doubt it’s way too early.”

It was a good game got out to pen trouble in the first but battled through it with hard work. Miele had a great game and had the fans behind him. Hollweg had a big impact with his fight got the team and crowd pumped. Pogge was strong in net i almost rather see him be the starter.

Pirates power past the Monarchs to earn first home win
By Chris Roy Published: 20th October 2011

Quote:
Portland, ME – The Portland Pirates’ power play came through on Wednesday night as they reversed a stinging reminder of last Saturday’s home opener against the Manchester Monarchs.

Less than one week after a gut-wrenching 5-1 loss, the Pirates rebounded as Andy Miele recorded five points on the night (two goals, three assists) as they defeated the Monarchs, 5-3, before 5, 285 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

He was on the first line lastnight, he hasn't really showed anything special yet could still be learning the team. He has not stood out in anyway yet with the pirates imo.

Pirates attacking first period woes
By Chris Roy Published: 21st October 2011

Quote:
First periods have been a troublesome part of the Portland Pirates game so far at this early juncture of the season.

Fortunately, the Pirates know they have a problem as they say you can fix it until you admit you have one.

Headline going into Providence game tomorrow:

No Miele, NO O, Pirates' ship sinks in embarassing fashion to Adirondack, and former Pirate Michael Leighton, 3-0.

BLOG: Offense wins games; Defense wins championship

The bottom line is the Pirates loss.

On the surface, the Pirates fall to .500 on the season with a 2-2-0-1 record, but this game was different. This was the Pirates team I have been expecting since training camp opened.

Pirates so close, but fall short to the Bruins
By Chris Roy Published: 23rd October 2011

Quote:
Portland, ME – As a young team the Portland Pirates are experiencing growing pains.

For the second straight night, the Pirates outshot and out-chanced their opponent only to come out on the short end.

The Pirates had a 3-2 lead in the third period, but the Providence Bruins scored twice to earn a 4-3 victory before 6,060 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Point per game guy at the AHL level. You can't say that the Coyotes are ignoring Portland.

Yeah its good to see, the team had stafford as forward last night for that we have a few forwards out with illness and with miele being up so this was needed.
