If Sam is calling the game, we're going to win, look at the pattern so far, we've won he two games he's called, and none of the rest. Thanks a lot Giannone.

If we lose this one I hope we see Sather as the new coach when we head back to the garden for opener.

The blind praise heaped upon Sather and the desire to give him a free pass is misguided and disturbing. Sather behind the bench is something I never want to see again in my lifetime.

I just wanna see this on a Interim basis until we can find a more permanent head coach as so a move can be made right now. Get Sulli outta here too he does nothing but intermission interviews and he cant even get that right. Also remember Sathers coaching history I am pretty sure his teams never struggled to score goals nor were they invisible on the PP.

LOL. They also had Gretzky, Messier, Craig Mac, Kurri, Anderson, Coffey, etc.

Where is our 140-point defenseman to run the point?

Well we have Richards Gaborik Boyle Dubinsky Wolski and Del Zotto

I thought Mark Staal is suppose to be so great if so why cant he qb the powerplay like Coffey did for the old oiler teams or Leetch did for our early 90's crew. Honestly though I do see potential in Mcdonagh he shown some creativity these past few games. Sather couldnt do a worse job then Torts at this point any offense is better then no offense with Lunquist standing on his head to win games.

Gretzky can still lace 'em up right?

Leetch and Coffey are Hall of Fame players. Marc Staal is a terrific DEFENSIVE defenseman. There's an enormous difference in offensive talent there. Just not close. Beukeboom was a great player for Sather, why didn't he run the point? Because he's not an offensive defenseman.

McDonagh should develop a decent offensive game, but I don't know if he possesses the creativity and quick-trigger to run the point on the PP. We'll see.

Sather could absolutely do a worse job than Torts. I'm on record as being a Torts "hater," but god help us if Slats took over the bench.

So our shutdown defenseman isn't good unless he can QB the powerplay as well as two of the greatest offensive defensemen of all time?

Damn, your standards are high.

If they can take this one it would realize everyone's best hopes for this road trip. Oddly enough, and as bad as they've played that's all it would take to make the trip a huge success.

LGR! This should be a good one. Everyone writes off WPG too easily in my opinion. Buff, Enstrom, Kane, Burmistrov...they have dangerous players. However, I think that NYR is going to come out on fire after embarrassing themselves in edmonton.

1. Sather is more responsible for every single poor performance by this team that Torts is IMO.

2. Mark Staal is a shutdown D man - he shuts down the likes of OV, Crosby, Malkin, Datsyuk...the best of the best scorers. That's his game. Coffey and Leetch were offensive D men who played in TOTALLY different leagues from the current NHL. Nobody puts up points like they did. Coffey had 5 100+ points seasons as a defenseman. Leetch had 1 100+ point season and 7 70+ point seasons. Who even comes close to those totals today? Coffey and Leetch are both HHOF members - a current great NHL defender is not going to come close to them.

3. Richards and Gaborik are the only two people on that unit that are debatably elite by today's standards. Comparing them to units with HHOF defenseman from decades ago just isn't practical.

4. The league has changed drastically since Sather has coached a team. For all practical purposes, he has no experience coaching in today's NHL.

I was sure Biron was going to start, but then when Joe talked about NYR wanting to ride a hot Lundqvist during last game i'm not so certain any more.

It should, by all rights, be Biron. And we should, by all rights, be able to still win with Biron against this team.

Lundqvist has been in net for like almost 40 straight games, last season included. Biron hasn't been in net yet this season. It is kind of a bummer, considering people in Winnipeg have a new team and all. Oh well, there will be more games.

You should be glad though, considering Winnipeg has also been struggling at the start of the season. You're facing the perfect team to get your confidence up, because the Rangers have been playing brutally awful hockey in all aspects of the game. The standings lie big time.

If history had taught us anything it's that the Rangers will come out flat against an opponent they should beat.

Here's hoping history doesn't repeat itself.

At this point, with these pathetic performances, I don't think there's a single team we should be expecting to beat. That's the positive, the players are probably perfectly aware of that as well. No underestimation here.
