I thought Mark Staal is suppose to be so great if so why cant he qb the powerplay like Coffey did for the old oiler teams or Leetch did for our early 90's crew. Honestly though I do see potential in Mcdonagh he shown some creativity these past few games. Sather couldnt do a worse job then Torts at this point any offense is better then no offense with Lunquist standing on his head to win games.
YAWN.

By the way if you really think Marc Staal should be QBing the PP then you need to have your head examined. That's not the player he is.

Anyways aside from the usual, fans wanting the coach fired only 6 games in which was going to happen unless we went 6-0 to start the season....

LGR, I have a good feeling about tonight. Lets get that 3rd win before going home for the opener.

Lines for the Jets will probably be:

Ladd-Little-Wheeler
Kane-Antropov-Burmistrov
MacLean-Maxwell-Wellwood
Glass-McArdle-Thorburn

I hope to see a quicker team tonight that controls the puck and pace of the game. LGR, I'll say 3-2 win for us tonight with a power play goal and two 5-on-5 tallies.

Don't expect any quick youtube uploads of goals/other stuff from me tonight until 10-11pm.

No report so I'd assume the status quo, Bell over Woywitka.

Wolski replaces Christensen. I wonder if he'll be a fourth liner with PP time or start on the line with Gabby.

I like Woywitka. I'm hoping it's him. He's filled in nicely.

I didn't like Bell's first game. Stupid pinches.

Yep, and even if they are the same they'll be different by the second period anyway.

I don't know where Wolski fits in this lineup. He's a waste on the fourth line with Newbury and Rupp. However if he takes Stepans spot on the top line than that leaves Stepan with nowhere to go but the fourth line assuming Torts wants to keep the Pack line and Feds-Boyle-Prust together.

Unless Torts just goes completely AWOL and does something like...

Dubinsky - Richards - Gaborik
Wolski - Anisimov - Callahan
Stepan - Boyle - Prust
Rupp - Newbury - Fedotenko

I got what Tortorella was doing when he put Gabby on the 2nd line.

We need that line going to how they played last season. They're just not playing their game. No pressure. No hits.

No question Dubinsky has not on his game and hasn't looked sharp, but if he's been able to still get 3 points in 6 games with a +2 while in this funk, I can't wait to see what he does when he hits his streak.

It's only a matter of time.

It's just me but they seemed to think they should beat the Isles and Oil. That mentality has to go away, it's something teams like Washington do.

Well, you can certainly laugh about it when Newbury tries to grind the other team to the boards. You can laugh about it when, like Christensen, a finesse player like Wolski has no chemistry with grinders like Rupp and Newbury. And I am sure people will bash Wolski for "compete level" when he plays only 5 minutes ha ha.

The make up of this team is terrible. I really hate to say but we've got a no-talent team of players that stick up for each other. If EC doesn't, don't really care. I would've at least wanted to see EC and Wolski together to create a potential scoring line. The make up of the team... YUCK. I guess no matter who is scratched it's 3 grinding lines every game.

Then again, why do I complain? Torts is dumb enough to bench AA and the 4th line doesn't play and Rupp gets paid handsomely to take two 30 second shifts every period... so... yeah.

My namesake has been good, but I'd like to see him score some goals. I disagree with Brooksie's comment that he's been struggling. He's played well, getting 5 points in 6 games.

Biron to start against Jets.

Be good to see what he has in the bag, he could be a starting minder on any other team.

Can't wait to come home from class, hopefully pick up a 6-pack and just watch good ol' hockey and hoping they come out flying with some big hits and a just a well played game.

He's a bit of both, but yes, he's more of a passer than a scorer and on a team with a lack of scoring outside of Gaborik, we need him to step up.

I said if we come home from this long road trip above .500, that is a huge positive and I would be extremely happy.

We have a chance to do that tonight.

Richards is a lock for 25+ goals.

Honestly, I think he should be producing more in the goals department than he usually does - just look at some of the goals he's scored. Pure, utter skill. He's got great hands and a great shot - if he added that dimension to his game, he'd be a dominant force . . . but he's been in the league for 10+ years, if he hasn't changed in that time, he's not going to change now, IMO.

In regards to his play this season, he's been good, but he needs to be better. He has 1 primary assist and 1 goal (coupled with 3 secondary assists). Maybe it's the way the team has played, maybe it's the AHL-caliber transition game lowering his overall game - whatever it is, he needs to pick it up if this team wants to go from pretender to contender (excuse the tackiness of that line).

I'm hoping that Torts at least ATTEMPTS to play Wolski in a more offensively oriented role tonight...but we know that he won't, despite the clear lack of creativity in the top-9, and the creativity that Wolski can bring to this lineup. I am far from a "Wolski fan" (although him being Polish certainly helps), but he needs a chance to play with other talented players. Maybe try this:

Stepan-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Wolski
Prust-Boyle-Callahan
Rupp-Newbury-Fedotenko

4 capable lines.
