WARNING: EKLUND Rumor

I am very bored and happened to take a look at hockeybuzz for a laugh or two.

As I'm sure we all know, do not read to much into it because there is probably a better chance we get Crosby now that EKLUND has proposed this rumor but here it is...

Rangers taking a look at J Bo / Rene Bourque

Realistically what players (other than Jagr) have rebounded when they came to New York?

JBo's been a mess since he went to Calgary. No other way to explain it. I thought he would thrive in a new environment. Didn't work. Not sure what to think but his contract makes it moot.

The Bourque thing may have legs but it's already been reported in the mainstream press. Eklund hardly has ownership of that one.

As always, discuss the rumor and not the source. For whatever reason, this remains an impossible task for most of you.

If you don't want to discuss the rumor, and only want to bash the source, I kindly invite you to click the ignore button on this thread. This will serve as your only warning.

So how would the Rangers obsorb 10 million in salary cap dollars if they traded for both players?

J Bo was flying last week. He'd be a great addition, but that salary is frightening. Sather would have to work his magic again...

What could we possibly send to them for JBo? I've been a fan of his since his Florida days, but we don't have the capspace. We're talking Wolski going the other way plus an additional 3M. The only players we have making 3M or more are: Richards (No), Gaborik (No), Callahan (Captain, no), Dubinsky (possible, but seeing as how thin we are at LW, seems unlikely), and Girardi (Hmm... JBo is an upgrade on him but at 2x the caphit).

Wolski + Girardi for JBo kind of intrigues me. JBo essentially replaces Girardi... Girardi's stock will never be higher than it is now. I'd really think hard about something like that. Not sure why Calgary would go for that, though.

It's just not worth it though. Girardi's stock is higher now than its ever been because he's logging 30 minutes a game and handling it fine. But the reality is his stock as been high the last few seasons as he has developed into one of the most steady defenseman in the league. He could be a top 2 on a lot of team with how well he plays defense. I like J Bo but that salary is just too much and we'd be trading Girardi for him with the HOPE that he turns his game around and starts being more productive again. Just doesn't make sense.

JayBo would be a great fit for this team, but his cap hit is way too high for us to take on. Pass on him.

I would be very intrigued about the price for Bourque.

Eklund so might as well toss it out the window, however...He's the most overrated defenseman in the game IMO. Just don't think he is anywhere near the player he was hyped up to be over the years. I don't think his overall value is equal to his rediculous cap hit. Unless there was a way of moving a reden back to Calgary which is NOT going to happen I don't like the idea at all. Wait for Staal to return, wait for Sauer to heal. Rangers are a different team with them on in the lineup.

Bourque I like alot as a player. I think he'd be a good asset here in NY. I think the production you will likely get from his is equivalent to the cap hit. Got alot of years left on his contract but he is only 29. Wolski for Bourque straight up I would do all day long. Sweeten with a pick if need be.

Bouwmester is a waste of talent.

He's not an offensive defenseman, he's not a defensive defenseman, and he isn't physical.

He's big and he can skate. Otherwise a waste of his natural ability. And a huge cap hit.

Bourque would be a good fit.

Kreider, Miller, McIlrath are untouchable. And Fasth should be considered as well.

Anyone else in the farm system should be up for grabs.

Wouldn't mind seeing a Bourque-Richards-Gaborik first line if the price was right.
