As far as Richards goes, we ain't seen nothing yet. Yes he has 5 points but he hasn't shown what he's really capable of yet. This is brad Richards at like 70%. When he gets going you're all going to run out and buy his jersey. So far he's actually reminded me of Gomez. The reassuring part is that he's Gomez-esque when he's at 70% and when he's at 100% he's dangerous every shift. He's also never had a pure finisher like Gaborik so there's definitely an adjustment period going on right now. I'm not worried in the least, but I just wanted to say this because some people seem to be satisfied with richards' play so far because he has the points. Just wait.
If he reminds you of Gomez, we'll trade him and get another McDonagh-esque type player
Then you're going to be sadly disappointed if that is your expectation. Richards leads the team in points because of assists. I think he's assisted on every Gaborik goal so far, I think... Regardless it's at least 3 of the 4 (I'm too lazy to look it up), thats why we signed him. He's doing his job.
The people that need to step up are Dubi, Cally, AA, Boyle.
Of the four, Cally is the only one not playing well. Dubinsky has been playing no worse than Richards (yes, he has 5 points, but 3 of his 4 assists are secondary. He's not creating the goals the way Dubinsky did a couple of games ago). Aside from Lundqvist, Gaborik, Girardi, and McDonagh, EVERYONE needs to step up their play a bit.
