Sounds like good news. As 'unlucky' as Chris has been with his recent injuries, I imagine he's considering himself incredibly fortunate at the moment.

Still haven't seen the video... not sure I want to.

WIP Radio stated that Pronger was taken to a hospital after the game "according to a good source at the arena."

Holmgren didn't say that though..which is not cool. He said he was just assessed by the team eye doctor in the locker room and the impression was that he left for home from there. So we have some conflicting info..no surprise. Again..in 3 to 4 days we'll know more. Hopefully, the trauma stabilizes....and there are no major setbacks in the weeks to come...

Right. Initial reports stated that he did not go to the hospital. Could be precautionary or done after those reports were issued.

This is what Holmgren said:

“The eye doctor checked him out thoroughly and he’s got a little bit of an issue right now with his eye. We think … there’s no concern other than if something happens over the next three or four days, if there’s swelling or something behind the eye. He’s gonna be basically on bedrest for three days and the hope is he’ll be fine within the next few weeks here.”

Holmer pretty much says in this interview that Visors should be mandatory.

I agree with this, hockey players we know you are tough.

But your eyes are much more important than your bravado.

Stephen Goldman, the #Flyers' eye doc, examined Pronger tonight. The two will spend a lot of time together in the next 4 days. #Flyers

You haven't some of my horse picks.

Timmeh had that doctor's name listed in one of his earlier reports.

Michael Fung is the doctor who did Briere's corrective eye surgery at Wills Eye Hospital.

He is listed along with Goldman.

Firstly, I certainly hope Pronger is ok and that he will be able to recover fully.

That said, injuries like this one are why I feel the 35+ rule needs to be revisited. There need to be exceptions. This was a freak incident that had nothing to do with age and/or wear and tear. Same with Lappy. If a team signs an older player who has a history of knee issues, and then that player goes down with a knee injury - then the rule makes sense. But there is nothing age-related or chronic about getting a puck to the face or a stick to the eye.

If Holmgren is able to force a visor on Pronger, perhaps he will be able to get Simmonds and Talbot into visors as well.

Time for the Walker-Lilja comboooooo thats going to be a sight to see.

Flyers played with only 5 defenders and Walker had less than 12 minutes of icetime.

Flyers Lose Pronger for at Least a Few Weeks

Pronger immediately fell to the ice, dropped his gloves and started waving his hands in motioning to the bench that he was in trouble. For a player who has never shown fear on the ice, it was apparent that he sensed he was in danger by the reaction.

Holmgren assured the media throng that when Pronger returns, there will be a change. “When Chris comes back, he’ll be wearing a visor. We made it mandatory in the American Hockey League and it’s not an issue. Obviously some of these players have been around a long time and for whatever reason they don’t want to wear them.”

Apparently, they already have Pronger's shield ready.
