In three years, Parise will be part of a dynamic duo with Nick "top 6" Spailing!

Yes, Booth would have been a nice top six addition. No, he wasn't the perfect fit, must have guy ... but he's put up some decent numbers. Once again there's a trade, and the "why didn't Poile get that guy" (paraphrasing) crowd is out in force. Maybe he tried, maybe he didn't, maybe the Panthers didn't want to deal with us ... doesn't matter now.

It would be nice to get an update on the status of a Erat and Fisher return.

Speaking of...Obviously Ekholm was sent down. Who goes to make room for Fisher? I remember reading that Smith and Boom Boom are the only two who would not need to clear waivers. If it goes past the nine game mark, doesn't Smith need to clear?

I don't think we have to send anyone down, I think we're below the limit as of now anyway.

I don't see Smith going down or Geoffrion. I could see Berfors waived or O'Reilly moved to IR if his injury is longer. Again, we're only at 13 skaters and 6 defensemen now anyway. You get 23 right?

Nope he has 3 years, and 70 or 80 games before he is waiver eligible. Someone can clarify the # of games.

The nine game mark is for junior players not eligible for the AHL, like Mark Scheifele. They play in the NHL or juniors. THey have a 10 game period to decide. He was sent back to juniors, and it doesn't count as a year on his NHL contract.

Good news...

possibility of Fisher/Bouillon in the lineup next game

EDIT:
Quote:
Forward Line Combos at today's practice:
White - Hornqvist, Legwand, Wilson
Gray - Fisher, Kostitsyn, Smith
Yellow - Smithson, Spaling, Tootoo
Green - Geoffrion, Halischuk, McGrattan
Lt Blue - Bergfors, O'Reilly
I like the balance the first two lines have.
After Smith and SK's 2 on 1 last game i think its a good idea to try to see if that chemistry works again with Fisher possibly coming back.

From that article...

Forward Line Combos at today's practice:

Gray - Fisher, Kostitsyn, Smith
Yellow - Smithson, Spaling, Tootoo
Green - Geoffrion, Halischuk, McGrattan
Lt Blue - Bergfors, O'Reilly

I like those lines. Top-6 looks good (until Erat can get back of course).

EDIT: Oops...Goc Ya (you really need to get a new name) edited his post and said the same thing.

Another thought/good news...If Cube returns, I assume Hillen will be watching from the box (I hope anyways).

I also like this part...

The Predators spent Monday’s practice at Centennial Sportsplex working on several parts of their game, including improving on breakouts and getting more shots on net.

Glad to see the spaling/smithson/tootoo line together again. They should have never been broken up.

Bout time Horns is back in the top6 consistently. Yeah he struggled, but he needs to take advantage of garbage infront of the net, and he wasn't getting those opportunities with the players he was with.

do you guys think that the preds should make a move on any of these players?
- Matt Moulson
- Tuomo Ruutu
- Milan Michalek
- Loui Eriksson (If Dallas is way out of a playoff spot, but still very unlikly)

The only one of those that could be conceivably available, in any circumstance, is Ruutu, and I don't think he's what we need.

I wish they would keep the all american line together. Fisher will have to be eased into a top six position after not playing for so long. I would be surprised if he plays big minutes tonight

Hey guys, what are the chances that Tootoo will be traded at the deadline?

Is he gonna get a contract extension? Or do you think he'll become a UFA?

I'd be very surprised if he was traded. He's a very popular player, likely isn't going to make a whole lot more than he's making...i imagine he's a good candidate for "lifetime Predator"

Hmm, alright. He's pretty troll-y so that means he'd naturally be a great fit in VAN. I expect Gillis to go after a Tootoo or Neil type at the deadline, but these guys are like Hansen for us.

I protected Hansen in an expansion draft thread last season and the Oilers trolls were out in full force.

If he were to be traded, what kind of overpayment would it take? I happen to be high on Tootoo. He seems like a Lapierre type where you despise them until they're on your team.

Tootoo used to be kind of a 'troll' or a borderline cheap player at times no matter how much I tried to deny it. In the last couple years though he has actually grown as a player and isn't really "just the fighter" or goon people are used to seeing him as. Although he can obviously drop the gloves with the best of them when the time comes.

He really is one of the most explosive players we have. Although he's far from an all-star he fits the style of play we have in many ways. He really does have pretty explosive speed and a rocket slap shot. I remember when he first came into the league the guy would freakin' fall down half the time he would shoot and he was out to drill people into the boards. Not so much anymore. He has a lot more awareness now than he ever has. Makes nice passes and can actually move a little with the puck. And....most importantly....he shoots the puck, which our team shows an allergic reaction to doing.

He really is way up there on the list of our players who are unlikely to be traded. As mentioned in an earlier post, he won't make much more money anywhere else and is a big fan favorite. Trading him really wouldn't serve much purpose for the team or him.
