Wait so even if i buy Center Ice, i still wont be able to see the games? I saw the announcement last night and flipped out.

I will be cancelling DirecTV immediately if it does end up happening.

yea i'm pretty sure it will effect center ice because a lot of the games are shown on the fox regional networks. They could make an exception for certain sporting events but i doubt that will happen.

If it was for the NFL Package they'd probably go under.

At least dish doesn't cost as much and doesn't hold its networks / viewers hostage for more money every single year. This happens with directv all the time. Enough is enough. I've had dish before (don't have it now, I prefer to bundle w/my internets) and unless you need Sunday Ticket, there's really no reason to pay twice as much for directv. Dish is fine.

dish pulled the same crap last year with fox and they blacked out fsd for a month. I have had dish before and i had nothing but nightmares with service problems and dealing with their customer service.

I hadn't heard about that. Pretty much every cable/dish company will try to screw you at every turn. There's no escape I suppose.

We have Direct TV and if this happens, we are just going to get WOW for our downstairs TV since we already have WOW for phone and internet. Hate WOW a lot tho but you don't mess with my hockey or my FX shows.

I think the games themselves would be on CenterIce but the other programming would disappear. It's a money play folks. Fox Global wants more money... 40% more! DTV doesn't want to pay as they'd have to jack the rates up even more or eat it. FOX Sports is the bad guy in this one.

No, it's not the same company that did this same thing last year.

VERSUS decided they wanted more money (a lot more) and to be included in a different tier than where D-TV and DISH had them placed. Both providers had to pull VS to get them back to the table.

This year, Fox Sports, known for paying exorbitant amounts of money to sports leagues, wants a 40% increase in subscriber rates. Heck, that's worse than insurance companies, health care and even college tuition hikes.

If you're the content provider, you just let the networks tell you what you'll pay them, and pass it on to your subscribers, right?

Fox just paid $1 Billion for FIFA World Cup rights....they needed a way to get some $$ back after outbidding the mother-ship...

That, or they're talkin' about those chips they used to sell that give you diarrhea. Why would they ever stop selling those?

I can live with that. NHL network is just a highlight network.

All 82 (well 70ish something) Wings games>NHL network.
