I'm going to the next two home game -- tonight's against Philly and Saturday's against Boston. I can't begin to express how totally psyched I was about this week when I originally got the tickets, and how totally psyched out I've become. I swear, right now going to the game almost feels like homework.
There's some indication of an attendance decline. We natives are getting restless.
As someone who's been watching the Habs since the beginning of the 90s and who hasn't stopped ever since, watching the Habs hoist the cup in 93 and then everything falling apart, I was beginning to become more optimistic in the last 4-5 years. We finally have some good young players, a core to build around, surrounding them with good middle aged veterans who can help these players mature.
Now watching the beginning of the season, the only thing i'm thinking, the following clip describes perfectly:
because the flyers offered him ridiculous money. far beyond what he deserves
Not sure i agree with that...$1.75M is right in line with what he deserves. Moen is getting $1.5M, and no one is complaining about that. They are both very good 4th line players, and as such are being paid to shutdown the opposition. Hits, blocked shots & PIM are the most important stats for these guys. Pts wise, they are expected to get 15-20pts any more than that and it's gravy.
Now if you look up their stats, they both do this effectively and warrant their salary.
The fact that Moen is leading this team in pts...well that's just sad.

yeah you're right, i was confusing him with someone else. it's 1,750,000 for 5 years. im guessing the years were the major sticking point for gm's. i don't remember exactly shero's quote but it was something to that effect.
Everyone expects us to get killed so we're obviously going to win. That's just how the Habs role.
then we win back to back games vs Boston. The Martin firewagon disappears and we become cup contenders again. Also a vortex swallows Gomez into a parralel dimension but somehow nobody notices.
I still remember the Jagr thread where everyone said the guy was washed up and that we shouldn't sign him
Now I'm annoyed PG didn't get it done, the dude is playing very well thus far.
not many people were against the idea of bringing in Jagr, don't know the everyone but I remember most liking the idea especially after the WC which he played great with Pleks. Instead Gauthier preferred to give Cole 4 years
Does he give Martin the look like Roy gave to Tremblay?
Nope. It would be quite sad to see him get his 100th win somewhere else. He'll just be really pissed.
That or he gets injured during the game by Hartnell, who gets pushed and falls on Price's leg.

Staal is playing like crap without Cole. Maybe we can send him back to Carolina.
Although today could quite possibly result in another loss for Montreal, I'm intrigued to watch the re-vamped Flyers and their youngsters play. Should be a fast-paced game today.
