What is the Blue Carpet Event?

What exactly is this event? I can't seem to gather any type of description off of the Rangers website as to what this event is. Last season they did the roster introduction and I expect them to do the same tomorrow night. But this whole Blue Carpet Event, what is it? Can someone please give me a nice description of what it is? Thanks in advance.

From what I understand...

Its just another way of saying "pregame show". They will undoubtedly show you all the glitz and glam of the New MSG and then request that you tweet what you think about it.

They say to get there at 5:30, so I think it's more than a pregame show.

Pretty much.

Only difference this year is there is a blue carpet going from the locker room to the ice with a bar and glass directly next to it, allowing some fans to watch the players come along the carpet to the ice.

Doesn't seem like there's much difference between this and the usual home opener. They just gave it a stupid new name.

Where did you hear this?

I was planning and grubbing (and drinking a water bottle filled with vodka) at Roy Rogers on 7th ave. 'til about 6:30ish.

Can only hope Ace Frehley isn't a part of it this year.

CHASE presents the blue carpet event.

My guess is that it is just an advertising ploy to make more money for Chase?

I got the impression that it was a red carpet kind of thing, just blue because of the Rangers/Chase theme. I can't imagine what celebs would be there other than Rangers alum. Maybe a good photo op.

Well hopefully they don't plan on another Blue Man Group performance. Or any music for that matter. Introduce the players and drop the puck.

I don't think we need to get into a financial discussion in this thread but to quickly answer your question no they didn't bail any body out.

They just went and bought a bunch of blue carpeting

Ace being booed out of MSG last year was one of the funniest things I've witnessed. Wasn't even a couple of people, it was the entire building. You could hear everyone getting more and more upset as the song went on

Pre-game notes I received via email today:

New York Rangers vs Toronto Maple Leafs
The Rangers begin a six-game homestand when they face-off against their Original Six rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m. on MSG Network), in their 2011-12 regular season home opener. The Blueshirts currently rank fourth in the Atlantic Division standings, and 10th in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 3-2-2 (8 pts).

The Rangers enter tonight contest having defeated the Winnipeg Jets, 2-1, on Monday at MTS Centre, and have now won three of their last four games. New York completed its season-opening, seven-game road trip with a record of 3-2-2 (8 pts), including a 3-1-0 mark on their four-game Western Canada swing. The Maple Leafs enter the contest with a 5-2-1 (11 pts) record to rank third in the Eastern Conference, and have lost two of their last three games.

Following tonight's contest, the Rangers will face-off against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Madison Square Garden (3:00 p.m. on MSG Network), as they continue their six-game homestand.
