Maybe I should drink some Vodka and play some BF3 to make this go away?

I swear, this team sometimes looks like it's made of all Zherdevs...

Well, that was a terrible game. Only good thing is that it's pretty fun reading through the gdt after a loss. Well, maybe not fun, but anyway, for those of us who find Homer's fault being that he overreacts too much, it's at least a solace that things could be worse, if he was merely a fan among us we'd be trading away half the team after every loss.

Lilja and Walker didn't have the greatest games, but at the same time they are 6th/7th d's, it was more alarming how bad Carle played. If I'd acted the way he did on the fourth Habs goal when I was 15, my coach back then would have benched my ass.

Maybe it's best to let the lines settle in for a few games before we start tinker with them again, but I wouldn't mind seeing JvR with Brière and Simmonds and Schenn centering Read and Voracek.

Meszaros had a few mistakes in the game, but I like his physical style out there. Hartnell had a few nice hits as well. That's the positive things to take out of the game, I suppose. Oh, and I don't think we lost many faceoffs in the final period.

The late goal in the first period and the fact that Laviolette called a timeout early in the second period was telltale. There was an obvious collapse in the team's temperament coming off that goal.

Whatever, you win some and you lose some

I guess it sucks that we ended up being the team to give Pretty boy his 100th win.

Well, the only things left for Flyers to do tonight is to put their skirts and make up on and go home.

Obviously you can't blame Bryz for everything but he has to work on his body language after goals. He seems like a petulant 10 year old when he gets scored on.

Has he always done this? I only really saw him play in the playoffs in Phx.

I thought that was only after you guys play the Devils.. Don't worry, you'll have that chance next week.. I'll be there, so I'm sure several of you can shank me on the way out

He probably could have had a shut-out tonight and not played tomorrow. Back-to-back games, 3 in four nights--it was always going to be Bryz-Bob-Bryz.

I'm going to make it my mission to single out each one of these posts until the falacy becomes obvious: Watch the St. Louis game--its not all, or even mostly, about Pronger being out.

Fundamentally, its three things, in some order:

1) Turnovers
2) A shocking lack of interest to defensive play by our top three lines
3) A well-intentioned but counterproductive insistence on trying to get in front of every shot, which both screens the goalie and leaves men wide open in front of the net.

Man, this team is so uninspired, lazy, unfocused and terrible. CLEARLY it's Mike Richards fault. I bet if we stripped the C or traded him, all these issues would go away.

Oh, we traded him already? The issues are still there? Damn. FINE, let's trade Carter, that'll fix it.

These better be ****ing growing pains, and they better pass soon. If not...ugh. I don't really want to be proven correct about those trade. I'd really love to be wrong.

He had a reputation for being moody in Phoenix.

I did enjoy Bryz's relaxed sort of pose sitting against the post after that one scrum around the net. Very zen.

This team needs to learn how to play defense, quickly. In the last 2 offseasons we have lost Gagne, Richards, Powe, Carter, Lappy...pretty much all our best defensive fowards. They haven't really been replaced. People need to begin filling those gaps, or we can expect this crap to continue.

Edit: For whatever reason, Voracek is beginning to annoy me.

Do not blame Mez, Carle, or Bryz. Its on Briere. He's the worst defensive forward in the league, bar none. He should not be playing in the middle.
Malkin might be worse.

Its premature--but he doesn't seem a great fit, and without him, the lines would be vastly improved:

Simmonds-Giroux-Jagr
Hartnell-Schenn-Briere
JVR-Couturier-Read
Goon-Talbot-Nodl

"Improved" might be the wrong word--but coherent. I think some of Couturier's offensive skill is being wasted on the fourth line. This set-up keeps a two pairs together for the PK as well in Talbot-Nodl and Couturier-Read.
