Yannick Weber

Is good at hockey.

As bad as things have been, he's been effective on both ends all season long.

He and Subban have been the best D-men all season in my eyes. Weber being the steadier of the two, but that's more his style anyways. Excellent start to the season for him, always been a huge fan so I'm exciting!

Future Top-4 guy. Do Not Trade!!

As bad as the mistakes have been I've been really dreading trading one in a panic move, because there is a lot of talent in the blueline. It might need more balance but we have the pieces to build a great defense squad for years.

Trade Gill and Spacek. Play our four young guys and Gorges/Markov.

Our blueline is very raw right now, some nights excellent some nights average, but one thing that is certain is that it is jam packed with young mobile skilled guys. This bodes very well for us going forward, IMO.

I've been saying it since the summer, Weber needs to play on defense, he is ready for it and trading him would be a mistake (unless it's for a good return obviously).
Since the season started, I've been saying it often, he needs to be our go to guy for the point on the PP.

Individually, all our Dmen are pretty good. The problem is that outside Markov, they are all of similar stature.

Spacek is all right so far. He's quicker than last year.

I've been saying this for a while...really fed up of people putting him as some kind of 'extra' on trade proposals.

Same here
Every trade proposals have him in it and the return is mostly a rental or old player that can't help munch in 2 years

I have always Bern a weber fan since the 09 playoffs

Webby was 2nd in minutes today only behind Subban. Not trying to get all hype up over 1 game but do you think Webs can be our #4 that we lack or is he only a utility player on PP and some defense fill in.

Markov (if he ever comes back)
Subban
Gorges
Potential Webs?

Spacek, Gill, Diaz, Emelin to fill out.

Subban... really?

He's like the 4th best so far.

Weber then Gorges. Diaz & Subban are pretty close.

Subban has only really played good the last few games. The first 5 or 6 games he was atrocious.

I'd be very hesitant about Weber in a permanent top-4 role. He can however absolutely rock the 3rd pairing minutes which is a nice thing to have.

With Markov back having say Spacek-Weber as the third pairing would be a strength for the team.

He definitely needs to stop overcommiting to the corner when the other defenceman is already there. I've seen him do that a few times (even strength and SH) and that always leads to an opponent having a golden chance all alone in front of the net. Even if the Habs' center forgot to cover his man in front of the net, Weber should be aware of that and stay between his man and the puck. Otherwise, yes, he has shown some nice promise. He seems to be stronger physically than last year, which is never a bad thing in one-on-one battles.

I like PMD in general but we have to be careful if we keep weber and diaz next year...we need to add a little toughness at the blue line.

Markov
Weber
Diaz
Subban
Gorges
Emelin ( please stay ! )

He's like Desharnais at this point by both the eye and the numbers he wilts when given tougher assignments but thrives in softer ones. Which is pretty typical of offensively oriented skilled players without much experience. He'd probably do just as good or better job as what Diaz is doing with Gill on the second pair right now but neither is a good option there.

i've always liked him and thinks that he could soon replace the wiz on the powerplay - or should at least. the man has a ****ing bomb of a shot!

needs to work on his defensive side though and martin is certainly the coach for that

Weber playing well. He's much better in his own end and very good positionally. I like that he has more compete-level (to use a pierre-ism) than I had anticipated. He goes hard into those corners.... none of this let me take a sweeping ole poke check first business that I had anticpated.

And the shot speaks for itself.
