Louis Leblanc's first pro game tonight ! 1g 2a GWG in OT!

I thought this was worthy of its own thread:

Louis Leblanc's first pro game tonight.

"Hamilton head coach Clément Jodoin has him skating on a line with wingers Andrew Conboy and Andreas Engqvist...“It’s his first pro game,” the coach says. “I said, ‘Louis, let’s go one step at a time.’ ”

hamilton spectator article

I can't wait to see him play. I haven't given up on him yet. I still think he will be one day a good 3rd line center for the Habs.

Hope we take our time with LL, no doing what Toronto keeps doing to Kadri.

This kid has more drive in him than that, he will be a second line centre or winger one day (because he can play both), but if you ask me, I see him as the second line centre playing with Kristo and maybe Pacioretty.

He'd need two full seasons in the AHL to be anywhere near ready for the NHL game.

When the habs drafted him, he was slated in as the Habs next saviour. The highly coveted #1 center. Since then he has gone to even being asked to play the wing.

For those that hope he will be a first or second line player, i don't share that view.
He will be a perfect 3rd line player in Montreal.

Who said he was going to be our saviour?
Louis Leblanc was never projected to be a superstar NHL'er... he didn't even "drop" to us... we got him approx where he was projected to go in the draft.

Many were happy we drafted him because it made perfect sense (very good C prospect) and he's from Quebec.... and the draft was in Montreal.

Giving up on a guy that has been the best player on his team his entire life is absurd. Luckily, you haven't given up on him yet.

I don't remember one person really saying he'd be a saviour.

Louis Leblanc is EXACTLY where everyone said he'd be now. He isn't losing anyones hope. By this time, he is supposed to be in the AHL. In two years he should be in the NHL.

All according to plan.

You might think that just because the media was hyper-excited, means they think he's the saviour.. but they were just happy.. first round pick in montreal being a Quebecer.. nice to see.

Says who? As for him only being a 3rd liner, I got once agree with West Islander and see him more on the second line.

1. We have to be patient with Leblanc. Only next year can we even think of having him called up to the big team.

2. But I acknowledge that, in his prime, he will be able to play on the top-6.

I'll agree I never specifically heard anyone say that, but the way he was hyped up around here and talked about so highly it was almost implied. Poor guy must have a lot of pressure hope he doesn't read here.

Anyways I agree with that poster, he'll imo be a 3rd line winger at best.

I think he has the talent and drive of a Guy Carbonneau or Mike Peca.

I don't remember this at all. Nobody expected him to be a number one or our saviour. Where are you getting this from?

You're right.

No one ever said he was the "saviour" or future # 1 center. I think the highest expectation from him is to have "finally" a local born kid who can play on the top two lines.

People need to remember he'd have to surpass Plekanec and Eller to get a shot at the "second line" centre position. Quotation marks because we have no idea which lines are which in any given game.

Really happy for Louis. Can't wait to see how things turn out for him in Hamilton.
