Aside from the fact that ADK's blueline isn't exactly ripe with talent, being #1 in the A does not always translate to anything in the NHL. Just ask my boy Michael Leighton. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm really not expecting much more from him than I would from Walker or Lilja. If they run with him as #6, throw Lilja on the bench, and ditch Walker for the rest of the year, I don't think the season would turn out much different than if they stick with Walker/Lilja as 6/7.
Well we agree to disagree. I think Gustafsson has the potential to be a #4 defender.

This is some sort of karma for the idiots who were laughing at the plight of Jeff Carter in Columbus.

Schenn isn't a 40 goal scorer.

So i don't get the point.....

They will be fine without him.

so are we going to forgive Schenn for his poor play last night since he broke his foot in the 1st period, or does he get the Richards/Carter treatment. injuries are no excuse for poor play.

Not sure what you're confused about--I wasn't comparing the contribution of the two players. I was saying that, not two weeks ago, people on this board laughed when it was announced that Carter had suffered a hairline fracture in his foot. Not Schenn has a broken foot.

Thought the point was fairly straightforward--and made in jest anyway.

Schenn has neither particularly impressed me nor stood out as a problem in his first few games up. I don't think he's found his footing... eh... gotten comfortable up here yet. Switching the lines around so frequently probably isn't helping.

Out 4-6 weeks. Fine by me. Wasn't doing nearly enough to stay with the team.

Fair enough. Only time will tell on this one. If he is a #4 defenseman at some point, hopefully it is here and not somewhere else.

Carter (H&W) 2.0

Truly hope this doesn't develop into a hassle for him in his young career.

Gustafsson \o/. I'm excited to see him play tonight. That should really help out our third pairing.

For those who think Couturier should be sent down, well, he's currently our best player at +4. While I understand this is a small sample size, his defensive play is something the team really needs right now.

He should stay away from Carter's surgeon..b/c that whole tin, ceramic, titanium, cardboard or whatever plate he got in there is not working out well for him. Having complications.

You just used +/- as a barometer of play. Do you really think he's better than Giroux, Timonen etc.?

I second this motion. Schenn got pretty unlucky but played very well.

+/- is a barometer of play--not a perfect one, but it isn't meaningless either.

I don't think the poster said Couturier was better than Giroux or Timonen or anyone else. He said that his defensive play was something the team needed right now. What part of that is objectionable.
