Fagerudd is doing good in Luleå's J20 SuperElit, 3+7 in 10 games, leading his team in points. I'm not sure whether we need another offensive D-man on the team..?
We have many guys with FEL/Mestis experience competing for a spot. I don't think a guy like Fagerudd has a chance, to be honest. We have a very good depth in defense, but we are lacking a clear #1 defenseman like Vatanen.
I doubt Torniainen has a chance, he's had a slow start to the year and right now he's far away from getting a place on HIFK roster, and hasn't been playing big minutes in Jr.A either.

I wouldn't completely count Fagerrud out, he's leading his team in points. If he would get some time in Elitserien, he'd totally be in contention for a spot in the final WJC roster.

I heard he was injured at beginning of the season. Maybe his machine is just warming up.
I just realized that there has been no talk about Richard Ullberg. Has three starts in the FEL already, although tonight wasn't his night.
He still seems very rough around the edges. I guess there's no harm listing him with the others, but he might be a stronger candidate next year with all the 92's out of the picture.

Sounds quite serious, it's not like David de Gea and the story about the doughnut. I know that some goalies talk to goal posts while others have a desire to drive the team bus when intoxicated, but this is a new one for me. I hope the kid gets over his troubles.

Ikonen hasn't played in FEL in recent games so his stock is falling. Does KalPa have an affiliate in Mestis? On the other hand, Markus Hännikäinen is really starting to look comfortable in FEL level.
Esa Lindell playing with Kiekko-Vantaa today and depending on how he does there, he might see some action with the Jokerit in SM-liiga.
I don’t think there’s much point bringing his name up repeatedly in this thread. It’s not like he has a proper chance of making the WJC-team, not even if he gets one or two SM-liiga games. Vainonen and Lehtonen are also 94’s and have already played in the SM-liiga, but I don’t see them having much of a chance making the team either.

TOI 21:25 (3rd highest on Ki-Va)
Most TOI in the second period of all players on Ki-Va (8:48)
On ice for one powerplay goal for Ki-Va
One shot (saved) on goal from the blue line
Petteri Lindbohm might have a chance to take a spot? Don't know how he would do on small rinks. Haven't seen him play. Someone who's seen him play maybe can tell me/us what his chances could be?

He's going to get his chance with Jokerit soon.
There were six U20 defensemen playing in that game, and just based on stats you say that it’s Lindell who’s going to be playing in SM-liiga soon? I can’t see Lindell permanently bypassing any of the following defensemen in Jokerit’s depth chart this season; Dehner, Väänänen, Niemi, Klingberg, Eronen, Nordlund, Kivistö or Manelius. Lindell could be the 1st in line as an emergency call up if several injuries occur at the same time, but I can’t see him as a long term solution.

Lindbohm has been to one U20 event this season, so Helminen knows him, but I don’t see him having much of a chance making the team as long as most of the top candidates are healthy. And if he makes the team, it'll be as a 7th defenseman. Personally I see Vainonen as a better defenseman than Lindbohm, both are big and need to work on their skating, but Vainonen is better with the puck and has more sense in his game.
If you check the participants to the last three U20 events (Vierumäki test camp in May, Lace Placid Summer Challenge and 4 Nations tournament in Moscow), you can see that Jani Hakanpää, Henri Auvinen, Valtteri Hietanen, Konsta Mäkinen, Olli Määttä, Samuli Kankaanperä, Julius Nyqvist, Simo-Pekka Riikola and Joonas Valkonen have been to at least 2 of them. When you add Ville Pokka and Rasmus Ristolainen to the mix, you should pretty much get the strongest candidates to the WJC’s. Helminen would probably need a good reason to pick from outside of these 11 defensemen, especially if Pokka and Ristolainen are the only less familiar faces at the upcoming 4 nations tournament in Vaasa (just a presumption).

It's not my opinions but rather the Jokerit posters at Jatkoaika that have heard so.
