That's unfortunate.

I wonder how badly you have to play to get sent down.

Like honestly. I really dont see the reasoning... how can the gm or coach make excuses for his play last night.

I wouldnt be surprised if he played tonight again.

Tough break for the kid. He will bounce back though, Schenn is the real deal.

We need that extra D-man just in case somebody else goes down.

Here's a Clarke reference that's topical. He took a shot off the boot. And played the next two weeks with a broken foot. Eventually he sat out the next five weeks, the worst injury of his career. You should have seen the puck!

They could pick anyone from the stands and they'd do as good a job as Walker has done the last couple of games.

Who is more deserving of minutes at the moment--Lilja or Walker?

Walker was on the ice for one goal--the one where Carle went for a walk toward the blue-line and left someone (Pacioretty I think?) alone next to Bryz. Walker had a few bad penalties in previous games, but he also handled himself pretty well in a pair of fights.

Lilja took an awful interference penalty. Pinched several times when he shouldn't have, and didn't obviously use his size to make a difference when the game was turning against us.

Like I said--they're both bad. Lilja can't be sent down, so if one needs to go, it will be Walker. But if we have the space to keep them both up, I don't really see the harm.

Walker barely played 7 minutes....7...as a defender. You can tell they dont trust him. Why play a guy you dont trust?

Just try Gus for one game. If he doesnt play better then Walker or Lilja, you can leave those two in there for the 1-2 weeks that Prongers out

You're right, the coaching staff obviously trusts Lilja more than Walker. That doesn't necessarily mean that Lilja has outperformed Walker when they've been on the ice. They also kept Walker up after he cleared waivers, suggesting that they either a) wanted a 7th D in case of injury, or b) were not completely sold on Lilja either.

But my point is actually simpler: both have been bad in their minutes, both have taken unnecessary penalties, and neither has done enough to earn a permanent starting job.

Best case scenario here is that Gus comes up and plays his socks off, allowing the Flyers to send Lilja to the press box and Walker to the AHL when Pronger comes back.

Until then, I say let the three of them fight for two spots.

+ Jagr sucks, what a joke.
+ Bob for president

And that doesn't touch the surface. Doesn't matter that we are 9 games into the season, and have won more than we have lost lol
People do tend to over react but I would like to see this team play together for 20+ games together before we have to close the Walt Whitman Bridge. I do have to admit your list is pretty right on. I do hope that JVR can pick his game up. I was anticipating more from our young veteran after seeing what he did in the Boston series. But I am not calling for his head.

Hope Schenn gets better soon. Love that Gus and Rinaldo are (hopefully) going to play.

Technically speaking LTIR is just a cap exemption. It allows you to exceed the cap ceiling by the amount of the injured player. When they are removed from LTIR the team must clear salary to get back under. Money doesn't "come off" the cap though.

Practically speaking, you were correct.

Here is what I'll forgive. Richards hurt his hand...ok he will be weaker on face-offs...but his legs are not broken...stop lolly gaging and back check mr "defensive" forward.

Ok Carter breaks foot. Maybe he could learn some accuracy in that time...can't hit a corner to save his life.
Consequently...I'll cut a guy like timonen a ton of slack...because he's giving it every night. He has bad nights too, but not because he's lazy.

I would think Ben Holmstrom would more replace Schenn than Rinaldo would. Holmstrom has actually killed penalties in the NHL, even though it was only 2 games, and can play center. The Flyers look like they want Talbot to be a winger.
what are they force feeding? that is a horrible comparison imo.

the flyers have a job opening, a role they want to fill. Rinaldo applied and got the job on merit. Rinaldo is the best candidate to fill that role. It really is as simple as that. Rinaldo has earned his promotion. Do you really think that if they thought Holmstrum would help them more he wouldnt be called up? Holmstrum hasnt shown enough to make the flyers want to insert him in the lineup. The rinaldo hate is funny as hell.

as far as gus, i have no problem at all with them letting him play the next 2 weeks. they need to see what he has to offer. I do not think he will ever be part of a regular rotation as he is to weak physicaly and avg in his own end. i hope i am wrong but doubt it.

You know what your getting with the other 2. However i give walker a little more slack as he really hasnt played much hockey over the last 18 months.

When did Schenn break his foot? I hope he won't be out for long. He is Luke's brother, so I like him of course.

They think wrong. And there is nothing wrong with objectively disagreeing with that. We sat a defense forward last night in favor of not one, but two guys who can't play. In a game that we lost 9-8, it would have been nice to have that.
