Alternate Martinez and Voynov every single game until the front office is sure which guy they'd rather keep. Trade the other for a right wing and high draft pick/package some guys with one of those for a good scoring left wing. Profit.
TM would never put 2 young guys together like that.
not to mention the fact that Greene has to be in there. he isn't flashy, or pretty to watch but he does alot of the small nasty dirty things the flashy guys don't do. he and Willie are the only ones playing this way. willie in fact i would say is between Greene and the rest of the D corp.
willie does alot of work with his feet, elbows and stick. Greene does all of that and more. the guy goes toe to toe and plays the body more straight up. willie uses positioning and misc 'ways' of winning battles. Greene will do this but he also will go straight through someone to win a battle for the puck. he is the ONLY straight up physical D-man that LA has.
it is the one main weakness i see in the D depth at this point. something that needs to be addressed right away. they need to find some guys to step into this role. a team has to have some hammers back on the D to beat up and abuse the opposing forwards. it isn't any different than having a good forecheck that beats up an opposing D. same concept, just in reversal
sweet game! it was the first i've been able to watch this season, super glad at the outcome. voynov was a beast, as everyone has pointed out. glad parse got his first, though it's still probably not enough to quiet his detractors. and as has also already been mentioned, i was glad to see them bounce back from 3-3.
